A True Mustang

The horse reared up, baring his teeth,
Looking wrathfully down at his victim beneath.
The predator looked up into his big brown eyes,
And answered the horse with retreating cries.
The stallion smiled down at the foal by his side
She was his daughter, his joy, his pride.
He would protect her with his heart and soul,
And she would love him, would make him whole.
The mighty horse ran across the plain
He held his head high; let the wind toss his mane.
A symbol of power, with fire in his heart
He is majestic, a true work of art.
This powerful horse plays many roles,
A leader, protector, and father to foals
But no matter what part he plays,
A true Mustang, forever he stays!

Agreed with HF. Fantastic poem!
I loved it it was truly awsome
Awesome poem! You really captured the qualities and role of the mustang.
Brilliant and beautiful work Allison! A horse with its power and soul is capable of many things and this poem put forward another point of view about a wild mustang. Although this revolves around a true and feral horse, the concept at the end is different. Girls Horse Club is filled with so many talented poets.
