Amigo

By • May 3rd, 2013 • Category: Tributes

by Briana | It was March 14, a Thursday. The afternoon was warmer for a March day. I gathered my grooming tools from the barn, then headed out to the meadow where Amigo is kept. Rewind a little… Amigo was a birthday gift I received in June 2012, less than a year ago. Amigo was small, but he had a big heart. Like they say, big things come in small packages…

by Jenny | Hi, my name is Jenny and this is my very first blog! I am younger than a lot of you but that doesn’t stop me from telling you about my favourite riding school pony, Candy. She is a beautiful chestnut with a white stripe down her nose. Candy is my pony hero because when my first riding school pony, Smurf, got ill…

Ponies and Poems: A Place to Begin

By • Mar 31st, 2013 • Category: Books & Writing, by Julia, Featured Blog

by Julia | It has been at least six years since I sat at my family’s clunky desktop computer and typed up my first poem. It was about the first horse I rode at my local riding stable, and it was back when I was absolutely convinced every poem had to rhyme. I submitted it to Girls Horse Club, and I was overcome with excitement to find it had been published on the site…

How I Got Spike

By • Mar 24th, 2013 • Category: Odds & Ends

by molly_spike | When I was five, I started riding. I enjoyed every minute of it and never wanted my lesson to end. But on the 22nd of September, 2009, my yard had to close due to financial issues. All the horses were to be sold. All of them got sold to the same stable, which had just opened and was looking for horses… all of them except my beloved Spike…

My First REAL Trail Ride

By • Mar 13th, 2013 • Category: Odds & Ends

by Macy | A couple of months ago I went on my first REAL trail ride by myself. I got Jet out of the pen and got out the saddle and bridle. I hooked him up to the cross ties, groomed him and tacked him up. I got out the step stool and hopped on him. I usually don’t ride by myself, but I only was gone for a little bit. (And no, I don’t ride by myself all the time because it’s not very safe.)

Chasing the Dream of Horses

by Mustang_Heart | Once upon a time, there was a little girl who lived in a not-so-far away place called Texas. While this little girl was very happy, there was something missing from her life. Every night she’d lay down to sleep and fold her hands together and cry…

Getting Our First Horse

By • Mar 3rd, 2013 • Category: Odds & Ends

by Macy | One day in June, my sister and I were getting ready to get our first horse! I was so excited. He was a very old white pony named Jet. My family never had a horse before, but we had many farm animals. My sister took horseback riding lessons for a year at a local stables and I took a few, too.
