I Love Candy!

by Jenny | Hi, my name is Jenny and this is my very first blog! I am younger than a lot of you but that doesn’t stop me from telling you about my favourite riding school pony, Candy. She is a beautiful chestnut with a white stripe down her nose. Candy is my pony hero because when my first riding school pony, Smurf, got ill…

How I Got Spike

Published by • Mar 24th, 2013 • Category: Odds & Ends

by molly_spike | When I was five, I started riding. I enjoyed every minute of it and never wanted my lesson to end. But on the 22nd of September, 2009, my yard had to close due to financial issues. All the horses were to be sold. All of them got sold to the same stable, which had just opened and was looking for horses… all of them except my beloved Spike…

My First REAL Trail Ride

Published by • Mar 13th, 2013 • Category: Odds & Ends

by Macy | A couple of months ago I went on my first REAL trail ride by myself. I got Jet out of the pen and got out the saddle and bridle. I hooked him up to the cross ties, groomed him and tacked him up. I got out the step stool and hopped on him. I usually don’t ride by myself, but I only was gone for a little bit. (And no, I don’t ride by myself all the time because it’s not very safe.)

by Macy | One day in June, my sister and I were getting ready to get our first horse! I was so excited. He was a very old white pony named Jet. My family never had a horse before, but we had many farm animals. My sister took horseback riding lessons for a year at a local stables and I took a few, too.

by molly_spike | I have had lots of lovely requests to write a blog about my pony, Spike. Spike is a 15.2hh grey appaloosa and is a big softie. He is amazing. He is so quiet and has so many manners. All the horses love him, even the stallion who is stabled near to him…

The Journey

by Madelaina | People say that all you really need is a dream, but taking that dream into reality requires more time and dedication than some of us might’ve been prepared for. This was the case with a horse I used to ride. The bond we formed was sort of like a latch on a gate, where at one certain angle everything has the magic of gliding smoothly into place…

A Magical Christmas Night

Published by • Dec 18th, 2011 • Category: Odds & Ends

by HorseWings | It must have been around 7:30 PM when we boarded the wagon. My family had planned this ride to see the amazing Christmas light display, and though we were all cold, we were teeming with excitement…

Why I Am Thankful for GHC

Published by • Nov 24th, 2011 • Category: Featured Blog, Odds & Ends

by icehorse | A couple of days ago, I was looking at some old blog posts on GHC. There were three or four with the beginning: Why I am thankful for the equine. It sounds like a cool idea, but because it’s Thanksgiving, I’m going to do something different…

Track and Field

by Peanut | How many times has someone told you that you can’t do something you love? For me, quite a lot of times. An example of one of these times was today…

Loping

Published by • Nov 18th, 2009 • Category: Guest Bloggers, Odds & Ends

by Miss Morgan | The feeling of flying, that moment when you feel like you’re in a dream. Nothing else is important. Your hair is trying desperately to break free of your ponytail. The thud of hooves in sync with the beat of your heart fills your ears. The world around you is only faint to your consciousness…
