Dream

I heard the voices of shouting men in the distance. It was time for my horse to go. It was time for me to go. I ran to the stable. They had come. The men had come to buy my horse. I was leaving the farm and going to London. My dad had been fired and he was going to London to look for work.

I looked into his big brown eyes, and suddenly I calmed down. My horse’s eyes, I mean, the men’s horse’s eyes, always calmed me down. I told him not to worry, that everything would work out. But I knew it wouldn’t. I would leave my horse and would be sad for the rest of my life.

I led him out of his stall and handed my horse to the man. My horse stopped. He refused to get in the truck. The man held the rope to the bottom, them whipped him. I wanted to go kick him in the shins and run away, but I couldn’t. Nope, I just couldn’t.

The horse (my horse) walked in now. The man started the engine. Tears stung my eyes. The trailer drove away, leaving me with tears and broken dreams. Tears streamed down my eyes, then I ran. I ran towards the truck but it kept getting farther and farther in the distance. Then I looked at my wrist, my bracelet, made out of his hair. The last trace of him, I thought.

I awoke screaming for mercy that night. Then looked at my wrist, then the window, he was out there. Good, just a silly dream!

  4. Wow- that was really really good peanut! I’ve had dreams like that- and they’re the only dreams that frightened me to the point of waking up sweating and whimpering in horror. Seriously, those kind of dreams are the scarriest a horse girl will have in her life! I liked how you had the horsehair bracelet too. Great job!
