Fall is Here!

I don’t know about you, but where I live the summer weather is officially done. The 90° temperature is past as the cooler, windy weather settles in. All the trees surrounding my home are losing their once green leaves. Slowly but surely the leaves are turning from green to shades of brilliant reds, golds, purples, oranges, and yellows.
But the first big signs of autumn to me are the horses. On Friday when I went to go saddle up there were quite a few changes. My instructor had promised as soon as it got colder, we’d start western. (For those of you who’ve never carried a western saddle, I almost broke my arms off carrying it!). And we did. Then, once I got to the inside ring the back door was closed, and it is never closed during the summer and spring because some of the horses spook at it. Everyone had their riding gloves so fingers won’t freeze and fall off. And of course, my personal favorite, the fuzzy horses!
Rascal, a very naughty bay Appaloosa, is all fluffed up and has the softest coat. Jazz’s hair is getting wiry and thick. Rosie’s coat is getting longer, showing off her beautiful Appaloosa spots all the more. However, this gives me more of a reason to get my own grooming brushes for my birthday, which is another sign of fall since it’s in November.
I just thought I’d share this with you who get to experience the transition from summer to fall and soon fall to winter. Also with you who don’t get to have much of an autumn, I’ll try to share as much of the season with you as I can. Winter will be here before I know it!
