Few Seconds Glance

Driving on a country road
during a warm summer morning

I was feeling pretty down
all the sadness pulling on my heart

But in one glance
a couple seconds of a scene changed that

A little girl in her pajamas
climbing a rickety wooden fence

A white pony reaching across to sniffle
her soft brown hair

She didn’t have much
a small red barn with the paint pealing at the edges

A little house not a yard away
that shows its many years

That few seconds glance changed my
outlook of life that day

Little is much
and friends last forever

  1. Wonderful poem, HorseFeathers! That is true: Little is much and friends do last forever, even if they are horses.=)

  2. Thank you! =0)

  3. There is a song that I love. “Little is much when God is in it”. LIfe is full of things that we think are ‘little’ but there are countries where they can’t feed thier families hardly and yet we waske money and such on cell phones that go on the internet and on Ipods that take picrues and such. I am not staying that stuff is bad but I do think that we should be happier witht he ‘little things’ in life. And anything done for God is not little at all. I want to live to give Glory to God not to have the latest fashons and phones.

  4. Great poem! So true! I love how you have meaningful messages in your poem. Awesome job!

  9. I’ve always gone by the saying of “lots of smalls make a big”. For horse girls, even one horse or pony can change our lives. I always feel happier when I see horses grazing in paddocks as I’m driven past them. I find that to praise your work, I’ll need to copy and paste your poem and send it in as part of my comment because the meaning of your poems are beautiful beyond the description of any other words.

  10. Oh, that’s so sweet. I love it!

  11. Wow, I really like that poem!

This isn’t really what you were saying. But, for me, sometimes for a split second (and that’s it), my hope drains almost all away then. And I’m feeling pretty down. Then, I see a girl, or a boy riding a horse, and my face brightens. I smile, and I imagine if that were me, riding that beautiful horse, feeling as if nothing could go wrong. In my safe place. My heart starts to beat faster in excitement just seeing them up there on the horse.

  12. Your peoms are the best! Beautiful! You are my favorite poet EVER!!!
