Fight to the Death

It is very hard to believe who would watch horse fighting, but this cruel sport has been going on for 500 years. This is entirely barbaric and has to be stopped.
This is how it works: They put a mare in the arena to excite the stallions, then they take her away and the fighting begins. The stallions try to kill each other over the mare. According to this article from the Daily Mail, if one horse falls down or runs away, the other one is declared the winner and another two take their place. The winning horses then fight each other. The last two battle it out to be champion. When the stallions are too weak or lame after the fight, they are put down. While the losers are led away to lick their wounds, the sweat-soaked champion is draped in red while his owner ‘feels very proud for having such a brave and strong steed.’
The fighting takes place in countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, China and South Korea. The people there describe the fighting as thrilling, exciting and fascinating. I think the sport is abuse to living animals who have rights.
This is one of the most abusive sports that horses go through, let alone this has been going on for 500 years. Imagine all the innocent horses that had such painful deaths for no reason. We can help end the pain by going to the Int’l Fund for Horses web site. On that website you can donate money, buy horse items they have for sale (the money goes towards helping horses), volunteer, or spread the website to your friends to alert them and let them be aware that they can help!

Marisa, very good! Wonderful first blog. I love it! O:-)
ugh. Thats just like what they do in dog finding, and I’m shocked to find out that it happens to horses too. ):
In a wild herd, stallions fight to establish a hierachy. But when people get involved the fight is taken way too far. This isn’t abuse, abuse isn’t a strong enough word. Hopefuly, people will realize what they’re doing.
you know…ur really a good writer! lol anyways i think ur totally rite. i hate what some ppl do to animals. especially horses. it isnt rite! i think we should do that to those stupid ppl!!!!
:(( :(( :(( I cant belive people do that!!!!!! It so, so,SO Mean!!! Great Blog Marisa!!
I think the entire girls horse club should work ogether to stop this! Marisa!
Thanks everyone! I can’t beleive I did so well on my first blog! Wow! I don’t understand why people like this sport! It’s so terrible and I would most likely break out in tears if I watched this! Same thing goes to dog fighting, I love dogs and horses so why do people have to torture these animals? I wonder if they put them on steroids like they do to wrestlers! That would make it even worse! Please visit the website that I added in there… It would help the horses ALOT!!!
Julia’s right. This isn’t abuse. It’s MURDER, ‘cos they force the horses to fight until Death takes them to a better place. I can only pray that God has taken them into Paradise. :((
P.S. A good blog. We need people to know the facts.
That is horrible! Why would people want to do this to innocent creatures? :((
I hope that this cruelty comes to an end. By the way, awesome blog, Marisa!
Wow I’ve never heard of that before. That’s sounds like dog fighting here in the U.S. That is pretty cruel. It is their culture though. So I’m afraid we wouldn’t be able to do much about it sadly. :((
This is such a crisis Marisa! It’s so unbelieveable what people do! I am so going to spread the website around! This sport is inhumane and cruel, not to mention meaningless and costly. It should be stopped right away. Wonderful first blog too, keep it up! :D
:(,how can people take deslight in things like this? :-O. God didn’t make his creatures to be murdered, but they are! :((
