Five Reasons Why Horses Are a Girl’s Best Friend

Whether it’s the inspiration for one of our horse poems or an answer to a question, thoughts of horses come to mind way more than I can count. Here are five reasons why horses are a girl’s best friend.

Forgiving

FORGIVING. Sure dogs and every other animal you can think of are forgiving, but think about this: Unlike a dog, who doesn’t have to forgive you for much, your horse forgives you daily. For instance, you mistook a jump so you AND your horse were disqualified. Your horse wanted to win that ribbon as much as you did, but does he hold a grudge? Nope, he understands that you were unsure of the course and gave it your best shot.

Comforting

COMFORTING. This is another common thing for animals, but horses pull it off in a whole new way. Question for you: When something goes wrong for us, where do we run — our horses or our cats? I think I know the answer to that one!

Trusting

TRUSTING. As I said in reason number two, horses pull this off in a whole new way. I remember what it’s like to receive a horse hug from my best friend. It feels great to know they trust you the way they do.

Willing

WILLING. Horses will do anything we ask, whether they think it’s right or wrong. For example, you put an immature rider on an experienced and willing horse. The rider takes him full speed down a hill and wants him to jump. The horse knows it’s wrong, but is willing to follow the instructions that the rider gives him, even if it means death.

Caring

CARING. Horses are the one friend who will never leave you, and that’s the truth.

    Good blog Cassie =). I know exactly what you mean, a few days ago a horse I know let me hug her and lean on her, and I felt totally happy and, praps this sounds a little silly, but I felt like I belonged..it was a very nice feeling, and your blog made me remember it, so thanks! :)

    Beautiful and written from the heart, just the way I like it! This blog has just reminded me of how important horses are to me and to every other horse girl out there. Those are qualities only horses can have.
