BACK IN THE SADDLE
fall.gifPursuing your dreams is a lot like riding. Sometimes you’ll be sitting high on your horse, riding along, when suddenly you’re flying through the air and landing with a thud. The time period covered in Part II of our history was filled with painful bumps and bruises, along with lots of valuable lessons.

Now self-employed in July of 2005, it was time to get back in the saddle. Most of the people involved in the first incarnation of Girls Horse Club had moved onto new opportunities. I couldn’t stomach the thought of fundraising again, so decided to take a different approach, pursuing work as an independent consultant/contractor to pay for the necessities of life while nurturing Girls Horse Club as a “labor of love.” The new business plan was to follow my heart, create something meaningful, and have FUN.

perfect-horse.gifThe Loft Book Club had always been a popular area, so we built a system to simplify the story submission process and management of the site’s content. In July 2006 the blog was launched, giving us the ability to exchange ideas and opinions. Girls Horse Club had evolved into an online publisher with much of the content coming from our talented members.

Although there were already several horse simulations on the web, we still dreamed of building a virtual barn unlike anything else that existed. Behind the scenes, additional work went into developing plans for expanding Perfect Horse and creating Girls Horse Club PC/video games.

MOVING FORWARD
Today all the ideas, designs, prototypes, etc., sit patiently on the shelves, in the computer or packed away for safekeeping until an ‘angel’ appears or we win the lottery. Meanwhile, Girls Horse Club continues to evolve and grow as a community showcasing talented young (and not-so-young) horse girls along with games, books, music, DVDs and other horse-themed products/services that meet our high standards.

So here we are. It’s now. Today. Although I play a lead mare on the Internet, in real life I’m a real human. Unlike horses, who live “in the moment” us humans have to ponder — what’s around the bend? What does the future hold?

Who knows. I can’t predict the future, but I can predict that change is *always* around the corner…

It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.

  1. I think you have a great thing going and you should keep it up! Horses are really cool animals and i know a lot of girls who REALLY want horses but don’t get them, so it’s good to have a place where they can spend time with this majestic and noble animal!

  2. I am glad to know the history of this site! Maybe some day when I am rich and famous for stories I couldn’t have written without you I will donate a million dollars or something……
Hey a girl can dream right?

  3. Horsecrazzz, you’re too kind! Keep dreaming and keep working to achieve your dreams — you can do anything you set your mind to!

And maybe Girls Horse Club will be your first publisher one day! Oh wait, we’re already your first publisher… ;)

  4. This site has a lot of history. The history is cool. And we thank the beauts of this wonderful site, and everything that we love on it. Who do we half to thank? We have to thank this site’s noble and hardworking creator, LeadMare herself! She is so wonderful!

    Thank you LeadMare!

Without you, and without your wonderful site, I wouldn’t have a reason to go on the computer. Now I do.

Thank you, Leadmare! You are such a wonderful person doing all this.

  5. Thanks horsejo. Each day I feel grateful to lead such an amazing herd of smart, kind and generous horse girls. When I get frustrated that I don’t have enough money or resources to give you the features you want, I just think about all the passion and effort that each of you give to your stories and interactions and it reminds me — this is what it’s all about.

  6. Yes, ti is. This site is so great, but it doesn’t matter if you can’t get ‘high-tech cool expensive stuff’. Thanks to you, this place is just as cool as it can be!
