INSPIRATION
I was an animal-crazy girl from the time I was born. When I was about your age, I fell in love with horses for their beauty, elegance, and power. I didn’t have access to *real* horses, so in my mind I envisioned the Perfect Horse. I imagined the special friendship we would have and dreamed about riding bareback on a deserted beach.
I would also spend hours and hours looking at pictures of horses and drawing them. When I showed those drawings to friends and family, I got lots of positive encouragement. The seed was planted for Girls Horse Club.
Eventually I started taking art classes in high school, went on to study art in college, and after college landed a job creating art and animation for educational computer games. From there my career blossomed into many exciting areas. It was through the daughter of a friend and co-worker that the seed for Girls Horse Club started to sprout…

Hey! I haven’t been here in a while, have I? Well, I just popped by. I’m sorry I haven’t updated my story, but it’s only because I’ve been sooooo buisy with grade eight, there’s hardly any time for computer, let alone to write a story. Y’know?
Anyways, I was a horse lover since the beginning of grade 6, when, like you, Leadmare, I wanted to draw them. They were so magnificent and beautiful, and so powerful, that I just developed a passion for them. Now, I can draw them really well, and I’m getting into an art-school for high school (next year), and I can’t wait! I’ve been around horses all my life, and I’ve been horseback riding ALOT. Anyways, thanks for listening!
I have been riding western sice I was 3 and have always been facinated with horses and other members of the Equus family (along with Classics, but thats another story). My family has a cabin in the country where we go every other weekend and our neighbors run a trail riding business, and thier daughter is a year younger than me. We are really good friends and have ridden together for 11 years. We also competed in CGA Gymkahanas and my first horse was one of thier trail horses. Now that I have another horse (see story “A Bite of Chocolate”) we still ride together and I would like to train horses and continue working with them for the rest of my life. I have ridden in almost every country I have ever been to, and thats quite a few! I can’t wait to take animal husbandry in college (I’m a freshman in high school). Thanks for letting me tell my horse-filled history!
I fell in love with horses for 4-6 years and ever since then i’m a horse lover…big time every day i get more and more atached to um i’v lived on a farm 4 4 years but when i really started been’in a cowgirl half a year ago when my beloved horse Aspen came into my life ever since then we do western i like to run and so dous Aspen we take riding lessons 1 a week by a great riding instructor i do western i want to jump and barrel race but thats alittel ways of.
Well, I might be a little old for this site, but I’m young at heart, a girl and forever a horse lover. I started riding english when I was 6 years old. I rode for about 7 years. I competet, attended horse camps every summer, I practically lived at a stable. But then my stable was burnt down. I live in Staten Island, New York. There are not many places to ride around here. But I miss it dearly and saving as much as I can do own my own horse one day. I’m 23 years old and my boyfriend of 4 years loves to ride as well. He rode western. We have done a lot of traveling in these last couple of years and everywhere we go we find a ranch and ride. Our last vacation was to Aruba. I can’t even describe how exilerating it was to be galloping on a beach with my love and just a guide on the upbeat paso finos. Well thats my story and Ill keep you posted on my riding experiences….
Jessica, thanks for sharing your story. Girls Horse Club was created for “girls” of all ages. I’m sure your story will inspire many — thanks for participating.
Hey there. My name is tammy and I’m from South Africa. I started riding when I was 4 and am now 20. My parents own a stable yard so I am always surrounded by horses. I own 4 horses. The newest addition is a filly. Her name is Amazing Hope. She was born on 12 November this year.
Hey my name is Emily and I got my horse Dreamer last year in Aug 05 He is about 9 years old and is a quarter horse mix. Now in 2006 he is going to have surgery on Dec 13. He is having a lump takin out of his sheath that may be cancer. So I hope that it is not but prayers are much appreaceated. I will give you the update a little bit after his surgery.
Love ya All, Emily
I had always loved horses and my mom was horse mad when she was young. I nagged and nagged for a pony and then one christmas I looked out of my bedroom window and there standing on the end of a lead rope was teddy. Teddy was a strawberry roan 11.2 cross breed pony. He was so affectionate that when I went up to him in my pjamas he whinnied straight away! I instantly fell in love with him and wanted to ride him so badly. But the history behind this fella was unbearable. He started constantly rolling and turning he head towards his belly. We thought it was nothing at first until one day he collapsed and started to roll but was in so much agony he couldn’t move. We called the vet out but sadly they said he has had colic.but he has had it to long and it wont get better. I was crying for hours on end! i would not stop watching the video of me running up to him on christmas day and then i would sob for hours. I love my boy and will miss him forever. Now i have Billy a 14.2 haflinger which is completely opposite to Ted. Billy races around bombs off and goes crazy. But he still is my Teddy inside and i love billy as much as i loved teddy.
keep horsing around
Harley and Billy xxxxxx
Emily, the Girls Horse Club herd will keep you and Dreamer in our hearts and hope for the best outcome from his surgery.

I absolutely LUV horses!
I loved them ever since I remember!
I love to draw them and want to get
very good. I want to become a vet and
hopefully work with horses:-)
Here is my horse history:
Ever since I can remember I have always loved horses. I never have had any real horses, but that has never stopped me from drawing and writing. I dream, too.
Many times I have gone to horse shows, and recently went to a rodeo! Kind people have let me ride their horses.
My future dream career is a vet, working in the country. Hopefully, there is a special horse in the future, too.
