Gone But Not Forgotten

So many times we cry
Why, oh why?
A horse, a pet, a human we have known
Has gone away from us today
We are afraid of what lies ahead,
For how can we go on while they are gone?
They will not be forgotten,
They live in our souls.
They may be gone,
But never forgotten!
–Dedicated to April, a friend’s mare who died having twins.

Champion poem.. soon though sorrows will turn to joy. I remember that the only animal God refers to that is in heaven is the horse. You never know..

Great Poem, very true! They are gone, but never forgotten.
HorseFeathers: I agree that horses will be in heaven. I do not think they have souls excactly, but God will come riding down on a white horse is what is says in the bible. It also talks about the horse and it beauty and how magestic the horse is in Job and Psalms.
I think I’m going to cry. That was a very well written bitter sweet poem. Tell Your friend that I’ll pray for her. Losing a horse who is agood friend can be very hard. Keep up the good writing!!! Oh and I agree with HorseFeathers and Ginger. It’s all true
I don’t think there could be a heaven without horses! Any companion you have had that has died will always live on in hearts.
Thank you all! I know horses will be in Heaven, and I can only hope and pray that I will see beloved April up there one day! I miss that beauty so much….
In a way horses never leave us when they pass on. Like you said Alaina, they live on in our souls. You were perfectly right!
