Got Horse Stories?
Published by LeadMare • Oct 14th, 2007 • Category: GHC NewsUpdate 10-29-07: October submissions are closed. Check the publishing calendar for great new stories throughout November along with news about when submissions will re-open.
Have you enjoyed the quiet of your imagination while Girls Horse Club publishing services were on hiatus? I hope so, because that means your head is crowded with horsey stories, poems, and blog articles just ready to bust through. The Girls Horse Club publishing queue is nearly empty, so open the gates and unleash your talent!
BETWEEN NOW AND OCTOBER 28th SUBMISSIONS ARE OPEN
FOR THE LOFT BOOK CLUB AND BLOG!
Before you gallop over to the online submission form, read below to learn what’s new.

SHARE YOUR STORY IN THE LOFT BOOK CLUB!
The Loft Book Club is accepting submissions for general publication and consideration as a finalist for November’s Judge for Yourself competition. You can help greatly and increase your chance of getting published by checking grammar, punctuation and spelling before you submit. Click here to review the Book Club Rules & Writer’s Guidelines.
LIKE CHAPTER STORIES?
To expand our library with the best of the best, effective now only completed chapter stories will be published. The change is for two reasons. First, it means less time editing/publishing stories that never get completed. But more importantly, we don’t disappoint readers by publishing stories with no ending! It’s fine to submit one chapter at a time, but all chapters will be set aside until the last chapter arrives with ‘THE END‘ as the final words. At that point your story will be reviewed for publication.
ARE YOU JUNIOR BLOGGER #10?
If you like to write articles that inform or inspire our audience of young (and not-so-young) horse girls, this could be *YOU*. Currently we have 9 talented girls who have worked hard to secure their place as junior bloggers, so one slot remains open. If you’ve already been published as a guest blogger, you have the best shot at becoming our 10th junior blogger. Otherwise guest blogger submissions will be accepted until that slot is filled. Click here to familiarize yourself with the Casting Call for Bloggers.
ALREADY A JUNIOR BLOGGER?
If you’re no longer interested or don’t have time to blog, just let me know through the contact form so we can make that slot available to someone else. I haven’t decided exactly how to honor alumnae junior bloggers, but please know you will be honored and always welcome.
BLOG COMMENTS
You’ve probably noticed that blog comments are closed on all but the most current posts. This change is simply to keep things manageable behind the scenes. When your comments are on topic (related to the blog you’re commenting on) and meaningful to all readers, you’re more likely to be heard and it makes things more interesting for everyone.
GOT QUESTIONS?
If the above is unclear, please speak up while comments are open or use the contact form. If you’re a wise old-timer around Girls Horse Club, feel free step up to help answer questions. Thanks for reading! Now…

I am SO glad to be back. I already submitted two blogs! One was about falls! One was about Halloween!
What happens october 28th?
YES! :D :D I’ve submitted the latest Funky Big nose chapter..and am doing the other now..
Can’t actully think of any blogs right now :-S
Tori: From today until October 28th you can send in blogs and stories..I’m pretty sure thats what that means :)
I know, but why does it stop on the 28th? Why then?
LeadMare, I think that the chapter story thing is a good idea. :) Seems like it would help. :)
I feel kinda bad for commenting so much..
Anyway, Horsejo..why not? It seems to me LeadMare needs a break right now..and the 28th is anice round number to finish on.. :-S :)
Animalsrkool, thanks so much for your help and support!
Tori and horsejo, things are changing and I’m trying new things to keep GHC open but still manageable behind the scenes.
At this point the plan is to only open submissions when the publishing queue is nearly empty, and when I have time to publish.
Hope this answers your question. Enjoy the day!
So are we going to have a blog every few days or what? I am sorry for asking so many things. :)
LeadMare:
Will we get booted out of the Jr. Blogger’s if we don’t get a blog published this month? :-/
If we will I better get thinkin… :-?
Yay! I have a new poem I’ve been writing and I’d love to submit it! :)
YES! I’m soooooooo GLAD summisions r finally open I’ve already submitted like 3 things and I plan to submit many more!!!!!
horsejo: I’ll do my best to update the blog calendar when I know the publishing schedule.
Horsecrazzz: The only request from junior bloggers is that you voluntarily step down if you’re not able to submit blogs for whatever reason. Beyond that there are no expectations about how often you should get published to remain a junior blogger. I’ll surely let you know if that changes, but you have nothing to worry about.
OMG! Thanks for publishing my poem Leadmare! :D :D :D
Thanks leadmare. Your the best. :) :) :) :) :)
Okay! Thanks LeadMare! ;;)
Lol, everyone thinks your great LeadMare! I love the new thing on the calendar, thats cool.

LeadMare:

Wait…submissons are open? Does that mean I can post blogs now and become a junior blogger? :-/
Horseyangel
O:-)
Horsecrazzz: You’re very sweet. You’re all very sweet. If any of you are web developers or editors by all means let me know through the contact form. ;)
I’m thinking about offering a sponsor program. When there’s time I’ll put together some thoughts and post them for feedback from y’all.
Horseyangel: Great name BTW. All blogs come through submissions and are selected and published (posted) on my end. You’re very welcome to submit and go for a shot at being the 10th junior blogger.
Holler if there are anymore questions. I’ll keep comments open until the next blog is posted later this week.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
I am a first time author with a 27 chapter book 99% ready to go. I say that not because it is not completed to the very end, but because I am still editing it for like the 8-9th pass to get it as clean as possible.
It will be mentioned as part of an article in one of the Jan issues of Women’s Day about pursuing one’s dreams, mine being to get this book on paper.
It is a little pony memoir recounting my early childhood experiences, aspirations, inspirations and dreams of wanting a horse. Then the reality of what happened when I finally got one for my 14th birthday. Is this the sort of thing you are looking for for your contest?
Definitely Horsecrazz, I’m glad to help anytime. For the last time when GHC was on break I was checking over and over again on the blog to see when you’d come back. But no worries, have a great time on your break. I’m sure to welcome you back with a very friendly nicker!
Hi Little Lonnie: Congrats on your book! I got your email and will respond with answers to your questions. Thanks!
