Horse Sense

Many people have wondered whether a horse can tell what you’re feeling. I personally believe that horses CAN feel what you’re feeling whenever you’re around them. For example, when you’re nervous around your equine friend he or she acts up. This is why you should ALWAYS stay calm around a horse.
Many problems can be resolved simply by staying calm in stressful situations. Say for instance that your horse is acting up right before a BIG show. You’re probably feeling at least a little bit nervous. In turn, so is your horse. Sometimes this feeling can affect their performance greatly. Nervous horses usually don’t show as well as calm horses.
I’ve only had horses for a few years. However, in that period I’ve seen happiness, sadness, anger, and many more emotions come out of horses. If a horse is not eating its usual diet, that could be a sign of sadness. Or, if your horse is frolicking around the pasture, that is most likely a sign that he or she is happy. These emotions might be taking place because of a change in diet or a new member in their horse world. Sometimes, even the smallest change can affect your horse’s behavior.
I know that some of you might be skeptical of this idea. If you are, then try this the next time you are nervous around your horse and he or she acts up. Take deep breaths. Focus on what needs to be done and how it needs to be done. Reassure your horse that everything is okay with positive behavior. Your horse should calm down. If your partner is still nervous, check for minor physical problems. After that, consult an equine specialist.
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR HORSE FRIEND!

Champion job E-cowgirl! I know exactly what you mean.. it doesn’t help at all to be frustrated when your brushing your horse or riding. Your riding partner will just tense up and both of you won’t have a good time at all.. Amazing critters arn’t they?

This blog is like… perfectly accurate Eastern Cowgirl! Really great blog!
It’s like when you’re with a horse, you share a special bond. When you love them, especially. And even if you are frustrated, angry or upset about something, they become that way too, because they may feel that you are directing these feelings towards them. That is why it is always important to be happy around horses…which isn’t too hard! :) Thanks for a great article!
