by Peanut, age 9

I was made just like any, with definite care
Hooves instead of feet, mane instead of hair
I walk on four hooves, walk, trot, canter fast
While humans stood around me, amazed and aghast
I pulled their loads behind me, very heavy they were
Then something big happened, I thought it would never occur
Their faces turned evil, I carried them to war, they bet their lives on races that I ran
It made me want to go crazy! Turning me into a slave for man!

I was made just like any, wild and free
But humans took over, trying to tame me!
But truth be told you, all who read ahead,
My dream of being again wild must be put to bed.
I may not be the most free, I still am tame
But all of you humans, you haven’t won the game!
I carry my head high, I march my legs so proud
I will make you notice, I’ll whinny oh so loud!
So listen now all, who think you know it all
Try to ride me, I can make you fall!!!

I am just like any, I’ll love anyone!
Now this must be over, now this must be done.
