Horses: My One Safe Place

Life is complicated! Some days are so hard. Your friends turn their back on you, teachers are mean, you get grounded and you wonder: is there anything that won’t turn against me?
Horse girls obviously know one thing (or rather, one animal) that is always there for them—horses! (duh)
Lately, school has not been so great in the friendship department. Whenever I get down-hearted about it, I simply think of ChaCha, my favorite horse at the stables, or Fella my deceased horse who I still believe is with me in spirit.
Even when friends seem to view me as an outcast, teachers think I don’t pay attention (I do too!) and mom and dad think I need to spend the weekend cleaning my room, I know horses will be there for me.
A horse’s sweet smell, their gentle nicker and tranquil eyes have the most relaxing affect on me. Horses won’t tell my secrets, won’t yell at me, and obviously can’t ground me. I feel safe and taken care of with them. I know I can trust them. Horses are my safe haven. I know that they understand.
So if you have a bad day find a horse. If you can’t get to one write about them (after all, this is the perfect place) or play with your stuffed ones, model ones or anything else! This may not make you forget the bad parts of the day, it might make you feel better. Horses are a safe place for me…I hope they are for you.

Great blog!!
Lately things aren’t looking up for me either. On Friday I lost my locker key, and there was a thought on my mind “I want the day to end quickly so I can get to my riding lesson!”. Cantering with a horse is the best feeling in the world that leaves all the worries below you. Excellent blog Horsecrazzz, very well-written and very easy indeed to relate to.
I was just thinking about how I ALWAYS feel at peace with my horse the other day. I loved the blog great work!
This Sunday, the broodmare at my barn, Angel (she is pregnant) started colicking. She had to go to the E-Vet on Monday and they did a C-Section to try to save the baby. The baby named Bella was 4 weeks premature and her lungs weren’t fully developed. Her baby was saved but since Angel was so sick they had to put her down. I was with the baby all Tuesday feeding, and giving it oxegyn form a container. I felt so horrible and sad! I just wanted to climb on to my horses’ back! I was then in the stall with her and my friend Flo and my mom, her mom, and my instructor when she stopped breathing. I was crying so hard while my instructor kept trying to revive her. Her show name was going to be “Angel’s Miracle” if she lived. Angel was bred with a black hanoverian named, “Escapade”. She had such long legs I imagined competing and training her. I was only with her for a couple of hours and I loved her so much. I’m just really glad that when I go to the barn tomorrow, to ride, when there are somethings I know some people won’t understand I know my horse will. :(
Asia, it’s soo devastating when a pet or animal dies, you know we are right here if you neeed us, you can use one of our shoulders to cry on.
I am so sorry to here about the mare, and the foal. I know how much it hurts. If you ever need to talk, your herdmates are here for you. tash is right, we have plenty of shoulders for you.
I don’t really know. I mean one second the foal was breathing fine and then all of a sudden we had to put her on oxygen. It happened so fast!
Thanks so much you guys! I really love how much we you all care about everyone of us!
