I Still Love My Horse

He pays more attention to the grass,
Than to my frantic kicks,
He won’t respond to anything,
This I need to fix!

When I get him to finally canter,
We head toward a jump.
He stops right before it
I fly over and land with a bump!

I take him to the round pen,
He thinks he’s finally free!
He won’t run in a circle,
But almost runs over me!

At the end of the day,
I still love my horse,
Even though he’s silly,
And never shows remorse.

  1. Excellent job Allison! It was lots of fun reading your poem. I love how it holds a sense of sweetness at the end, even when all throughout the horse showed some funny and interesting antics. It’s impossible to hate a horse, sooner or later, we all give in no matter how annoying they might be.

  2. That is so funny,great,awsome!

  3. Champion poem ali! Its hard to be mad at a horse you love for very long. I was wondering though how do you disipline your horse if he’s acting naughty? My friend has to “bend” her horse when he’s being bad. Meaning Turning a horse in circles until he obeys

  4. Awww… so cute!
It shows exactly how you can love a horse no matter what it’s like! Well done!

  8. Horses can sometimes have different ideas then you do and a different choice of actvities. When you say ‘go’ they say ‘no’ when you say ‘jump’ they say ‘can’t we just rest?’. The thing is, they have their own mind and even if we think it is ‘bad’ for them to disobey we must remember that they still love us and we should love them too!

    Great job!
