Int*l Horse Competition Update
Published by LeadMare • Aug 26th, 2007 • Category: Competitions and Giveaways
We have 12 eligible entries for the Int*l Horse Competition, totaling more than 80 chapters. WOW!
Although each month it’s a struggle to select Judge for Yourself finalists, for this competition the mere thought of eliminating an entry was torture. And how could I ask for your help with this horrid task?
So great news — ALL ENTRIES WILL MOVE FORWARD TO THE VOTING ROUND!
But you’re not off the hook. We’re busy getting those stories ready for publication so starting Monday August 27th all entries will be posted in the fiction section the Loft Book Club and you’ll have the joy of reading each story. Then beginning September 1st in the Loft, you’ll have the difficult task of selecting just one winner from among 12 amazing creations.
Now don’t think of voting as ‘how do I choose just one of these talented authors who poured heart and soul into their story?’ Think of it as ‘how do I choose the best horse to live alongside Lone Star, Destiny, Shahar and Sun Dancer.’ Think about the first time you visited the stables and fell in love with the horses, even though they’re fictional. Think about how their stories inspire more stories and poetry. The bar is high, and our virtual horses deserve the very best.
A NOTE TO COMPETITORS: It’s entirely possible we introduced human errors into your story during the copy editing and formatting process. In particular, it was difficult to decipher formatting for the pedigrees so check to make sure we got it correct. We’ll gladly fix our mistakes, but unfortunately are not able to accept changes to your original entry. Use the CONTACT FORM (NOT comments) if there’s a problem and we’ll do our best to address it in a manner that recognizes human error and is fair to everyone.
Once again, congratulations to all the competitors — Ali, Cassie, Jeanna Briggs, Julia, Katrina Halem El-Abar, Madelaina, Marisa, Monica, Mustang_Heart, Pony Princess, Syd, and Tori. Even if you’re not first across the finish line, you’re one step closer to your highest aspirations…
Far away, there in the sunshine, are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.
~~Louisa May Alcott, author of Little Women
