It’s OK to Move On

Wow! This is like the exact opposite of a blog I wrote a couple months ago called Horses Galloping Out of Your Life? That just goes to show you how much can change in a year, or even in a few months.

Horse girls will always be horse girls. This is true. But sometimes it is not healthy or easy to only concentrate on horses, horses, horses, and more horses. I am not saying that you have to stop loving horses, I am just saying that it is okay to have other interests too. As most of you know, some of our Junior Bloggers have decided real life needed more attention than their virtual ones. I can understand this! Sometimes you have to take a break from something, even if it’s something important to you.

As we all get older (and I know that some of you are looking forward to it) we will begin to have interests other than horse. This is not a bad thing. It just means that you are becoming a young woman who is well rounded and loves more than one thing. Horses are part of many, many girls’ life around the world. Most of those girls have other hobbies too. My best friend loves horses and music. I love horses and volleyball. One of my other friends loves field hockey, and horses. As you can see, all of these share a common love of horses.

Sometimes I realize that I am afraid of change. I like things to stay the same. My family has invested tons of time and money in horse stuff for me. Because of this, I was always afraid to have other interests, in case I stopped loving horses. Now I understand that I can love other things and still love horses too. It’s just like if you have a younger sister or brother. Your parents still love you even though they love your brother or sister too. And actually, loving something other than horses can help strengthen your love of horses more because you have to balance the love of horses and your other love(s).

The entire point of this blog is to say: Don’t be afraid of change. Don’t be afraid to become interested in things other than horses. You might never get another chance to try it out. Horse Girls will always be horse girls. And that, my friends, is a fact!

  1. I’m glad this one got published! And I’m serious! This blog was just to say that horses shouldn’t limit you, they should open up your world!

  2. Though I love horses and horse riding above anything else, other days of the week are occupied by other hobbies like dancing and ice skating. But you’ve helped me overcome something. Before I was refusing to try other things and afraid that all those years of begging for riding lessons would’ve gone to no use. Now I’ve come to realize horses are so important they wouldn’t leave my heart so easily. Back to the blog…wow, you’ve grown so much since the time you first became a Junior Blogger and I’m not one bit amazed :D This blog was written from the heart like a pro and expresses as much meaning as you say I do and more. Keep writing and doing what you do best! You’ve always been an inspiring writer who I bet many look up to (I am one) and this blog showed it with fine style. If you ever wish to publish a book, count on me to be your first buyer!

  3. I loved the blog, I know what you mean. I can’t believe how girly I’m getting! I used to be the only girl in my class who didn’t care how her hair looked, but now I’m 12, I’ve really changed. This blog also helped me to understand that one of my best friends, who I ride with, is starting to be interested in other things (but I’m still more horse mad than she is!).

  4. Madelaina: Thank you! Thanks from all the blogs I have read of yours, you are getting better all the time, and you were already one of the best writers around! I’m glad that your realizing that it’s okay to like things other than horses! Thanks for saying you look up to me, but I don’t see how that’s possible since I’m already looking up to you, so now we’re both looking at the sky I guess! lol! If i ever do get a book published (which I hope too soon!), you and all of GHC will be the first to know. Who knows, I might even dedicate it to GHC for all the loving support you all have given me!

Sweetie: Thanks! I’m glad that I’m not the only one! Don’t think of it as getting girlie, think of it as growing into a woman! I’m glad I helped!

  5. Rebecca Shyly: this blog is so true, I bet most horse girls here would be surprised thhat I plan on studying law and Forensic Science at college, along with training horses and raising horses and riding horses, ect. Love this Blog! so true!

  6. Nice blog, Rebecca Shyly. You really are a writer! I am glad you wrote this blog because I know some girls that are afraid to try new things and don’t want to “leave” want they’re interested in now.

  11. horsecrazzz-
In fact all of the junior bloggers have been giving me a lot of support. And because of you guys, my first blog is going to be published on May 20! Madelaina, horsecrazzz, and Jeanna Briggs have inspired me to write. I need only 2 more blogs published now, then I can qualify to be a JB.

Huge thanks to all of you!

  12. Yay! Can’t wait to read you blog! I know it will be good!

Today, I learned a little more about moving on, and how hard it can be… I think I need to take some of my own advice, only on a much larger scale! I hope that you all will pray for me, because right now I feel like I could really use the extra help!

  13. horsecrazzz-
I definitly will support you. I may be younger than you, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be supportive and smart. Unfortunately, I won’t have any time to go on the computer because I have my science fair, my student council is meeting the mayor, and a lot of other crazy stuff.

    Gotta go! Breakfast is ready!

  14. Thanks mustang mane! That really helps. I was upset that day. The pressures of school and everything were really getting to me. lol! I feel better now! Thanks!

Speaking of moving on…I am starting to get an interest in a million things, but horses are still my favorite. Does anyone else play volleyball?

  15. Horsecrazzz-
It’s weird that you mention it, because I was playing it yesterday with my BFF, Allie (HorseCharmer aka Aphaia) <<<< she joined GHC. Anyways, and I’m also going to the beach with her this Monday (no school).

I love to play it. It takes a little while to learn, but eventually you start to get the hang of it. My dad was the first to teach me…. :)
