June 14th

IT’S ALMOST SUMMER! For some of us, summer holidays started with the end of the school year or the arrival of warm weather. We’re going on vacations, attending camps, hanging out with family and friends, reading books, eating yummy seasonal foods, and more. Meanwhile, others are in the midst school with winter holidays just around the corner. Summer holidays seem as far away as your barn buddies on the other side of the globe. But here in this virtual place, time and space fade away and we’re all connected through our love for horses.

THE BLOGFEST BEGINS. Thanks to Madelaina for initiating our first ever Blogfest. If you haven’t already, read all about it at the featured blog, give it some thought, then submit your riding lesson so others can learn from your unique experience. If you don’t have riding lessons to share, general submissions are also welcome.

SHE’S BAAACK! After completing her (very busy) first year as an English major at UC Berkeley, Taylor is back to help with editing over the summer. As always, we’ll do our best to review and polish suitable stories, poems and blogs as soon as possible. But we won’t rush — our writers put a lot of heart and soul into their work. It’s worth the wait and we appreciate your patience.

GROUND RULES. While many of you are on summer holiday, we tend to get new visitors and members who aren’t familiar with how things work around this quirky place. Our ground rules are intended to keep GHC safe and friendly, but also to keep discussion meaningful and relevant to the content of each blog. If you’re a writer who wants to share your talent and insight with readers, or someone who likes contributing to thoughtful discussion and learning from others, you’re in the right place and we’re *very* happy to have you here.

Sincerely,
