More Than One Way to Take Action

After reading Love Wild Horses? Take Action!, an article I recently read popped into my mind. Have you ever heard of Wild Horse Annie? Her real name was Velma Johnston, though she is better known as Wild Horse Annie. She proved that girls just like us can help make a difference in saving wild horses. After Annie’s campaign to save wild horses, kids all across the United States began sending letters to the White House. People were outraged at what was happening to wild horses and laws were made to protect them. Because of kids, wild horses have a better life today.
You want to help? Below are several ways you can mail or e-mail letters. Make sure they are written by you and signed with a date. It doesn’t have to be long, but it SHOULD state how you feel about wild horses. There is a sample letter that you can get at returntofreedom.org but it is always better to use your own words.
You can find out how to contact your elected officials by going to Congress.org. Enter your zip code in the upper left where it says ‘My Elected Officials‘ then click any name for e-mail and snail mail information.
Or you can send your letter straight to the White House:
Snail Mail:
President George W. Bush
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 205000
E-mail:
president@whitehouse.gov
It’s time to take action! For more ways to help save wild horses check out returntofreedom.org or another one of the great blogs in the Take a Stand channel here at GHC. Isn’t it time YOU stood up for wild horses?
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

Wow, I’d definately do it, but I guess you can’t in England???
Thanks for sharing this information! I’m really encouraged by your words to take action, only I am just wondering…do you have to be in the United States to send letters or e-mail?
I Will defiantly send in something… just because wild horses aren’t purebreds and just because they maybe aren’t as gorgeous as Arabians or thoroughbreds doesn’t mean they can’t live! great blog!
Hey Madelaina and Sweetie, definitly you can send a reply! Even if you can’t send a letter, you can always feel free to e-mail President Bush or you can even send a letter to the leader of your country.Hope this helps.
