Now I See

Speaking Wind leaned into her horse’s forehead. Her long black raven hair brushed Fleet’s dished profile. She concentrated hard, and thought with everything she had. After a few seconds that seemed in slow motion, she finally sensed a connection. It was like trying to tune into a station on the radio with lots of static. She had to find the right place on the dial, then the connection was clear as Hawaiian waters. Speaking wind got inside fleet’s brain and heard everything — confusion and fear and wonder. When speaking Wind listened to horses it was like being hypnotized; it was very peaceful, but something about it was irritating to the brain.

I was so confused. Why was this girl looking at me this way. She was just a young girl and she stared in my eyes and everything was crystal clear. We connected, and she demolished the barrier of confusion held between me and humans for so long. I belong to a kind tribe. They are always nice to me, but before it was blurry. I never quite GOT IT. Now I am starting to see. Humans and Horses will NEVER see out of the same eyes, but Speaking Wind had a incredible gift, and for a split second anything was possible.

Everything is crystal clear.
I see
now,
I know
now.

  2. Wow, I loved that Ginger! I got lost in it, it was truthfully amazing.

  3. The world of horses and humans always will be very different. Horses try to understand us but sometimes, as I demonstraited in Through The Eyes Of A Horse, they don’t understand. It’s OUR job to understand them and how THEY think. What makes them afraid, what makes them happy. When we beging to understand them then we can find ways to make them understand US. The connections horses make with humans last forever, if, it is one of understanding and love.

This is a short story but it is inspiring. I love it. It’d make an amazing poem too, if you are in to poetry, Ginger. From 1-10 I give it an 11!

  4. That was really nice!

  5. Great work! But, the Indians didn’t know about radio stations and Hawaii, so I’m guessing this is modern times.
