One Last Goodbye

I love the way his skin ripples at the slightest touch
The way his ears turn in my direction as I speak
I crave the sound of his triumphant whinny
The way he stomps his hoof
Saying he is ready for anything
The smell of his determination fills my thoughts
The way the summer wind blows through his coarse tangled mane
The dirt crusted around his barrel
Does not hide his loud, powerful beauty
Standing his ground
He does not turn away from fear
Even though he does not see me
I am near
He senses me and turns away
Galloping off into the short sage bushes
Neighing one last good bye
