Poetry Contest
Published by LeadMare • Apr 10th, 2007 • Category: Competitions and GiveawaysAPRIL IS NATIONAL POETRY MONTH and the nice folks over at HorseBloggers.com are having a contest. Let’s participate! This ties in nicely with our Casting Call for Bloggers.
If you’re interested, comment below to let us know which of your poems you’d like to enter or submit a new entry and let us know it’s for the poetry contest. You can also comment to tell us your favorite poem in the Loft Book Club. We’ll select the best to be posted here for submission to the contest (previous Judge for Yourself winners have an inside track). If you have your own blog, you’re welcome to join HorseBloggers and submit on your own. But if you don’t, here’s a chance to participate as part of Girls Horse Club.
There are no guidelines about format or topic — any horse-themed poem is eligible for entry. We just need to be a member of HorseBloggers (we are), have our own blog (we do) and entries must be posted to our blog (they will). The deadline is April 30th.
Let’s step up and show everyone what talented poets we have at Girls Horse Club!
HELPFUL HINT: To see all poetry in the Loft Book Club, click the link below and in the Story Search box that says “where title contains” type Poem. This will bring up all published poetry.

Cool. I have another poem i can mabe post.
Cool! I like “Indescribable”, and “My Guardian Angel.”
Will GHC submit my poem My Gaurdian Angel? Thanks.
Sure, we’ll get it posted as soon as possible. If you have an image you’d like to use along with the poem, let us know.
Ok, thank you. IS it alright I won’t be able to get the picture until Friday?
Yup, we have until the end of this month for submissions. We’ll get your poem ready to go then will post it when the image arrives.
Ok, thank you.
LeadMare: I was unable to get the image I needed. So, would you please post my poem without the image. I appreciate it.
Done! We can always add an image later, but the poem is WONDERFUL as is.
Do I just post a name of a poem on here?
Hi Madelaina: If there’s a poem you want to recommend for the contest you can tell us here or email us through the Contact link at the bottom the page.
Ok thanks.
Can I enter Don’t Judge A Horse by Its Colour?
That’s a great poem to enter! Anyone else have an opinion?
I think Don’t Judge a Horse by Its Colors is a fantastic poem! It has such great meaning and rhythm. It definately deserves a win.
What exactly is the prize?
ponyprincess, good question. There’s no prize being offered by horsebloggers.com other than having the poem published on their site, but our offer still stands that the first authors to be published in the blog can pick one of the items from our gift pile. There’s more info here:
Casting Call for Bloggers
and
Muck the Gift Pile
LeadMare,
So the winner can pick something and you will send it to them?
yes ponyprincess, but we will need a parent to contact us with a mailing address. this applies to any submissions we publish in the blog, not just submissions for the poetry contest.
Okay, Thanks!
Can you guys submit my poem “Indescribable”? if you could that would be so cool! Thanks!
Monica: Done!
We now have three GREAT poems in the contest so won’t be submitting anymore. Good luck to Julia, Madelaina and Monica!
Does anyone know if the winners were chosen yet for the Poetry Contest? I tried the links and I wasn’t sure if they were not posted yet or if they’re somewhere I can’r get to because I am not a mamber of Horsebloggers.com. Thanks. :)
Hi Julia: According to the folks at HorseBloggers, the contest results will be posted this week. We’ll announce them here as soon as we know. (finger’s crossed!)
Ok, thanks! I really hope Madelaina and Monica both win :) Their poems are amazing.
Thank you Julia. But I am pretty sure I read your name under many of the Judge for Yourself poems! I think expressing what you mean when you be with horses as poetry is very beautiful.
Madelaina: Thank you so much :) Your poems though, are so amazing I really can’t think of any more words to describe them. Besides, your poems tell a bit of a story, gives a good message, and has really great rhythm. What more could you ask for?
Julia: Hmm, well. I’ve learnt from your poems. I’ve seen how poetry can so clearly yet so beautifully describe what one thinks. I have been delivering messages through my poems, and that is because I’ve seen, through your poems, what you can do. But your poems will always be the most unique, no matter how big an influence it can be on other people such as me.
I don’t really mind who wins. I think each poem deserves to be in this competition and they’re all great, each in a different way. I wish we could all win :D
Monica and Madelaina: Your poems are simply fantastic. Good luck!
