Prince Charming?

Rebecca Shyly, age 13

Ok, lets face it. For some of us, boys are starting to become part of our lives. Well, for some of us, they have been for a while…and others, they still aren’t interesting. Both ways are cool, but for the ones that find them fascinating, this blog is for you. The thing about boys is, if they don’t accept you for who you are, then they aren’t right. What I’m trying to say is that if a guy makes fun of you for loving horses, he’s probably not your knight in shining armor.

Some people (mostly guys) in my class say that horse riding is a sissy sport, or not a sport at all. My usual response is: “Ok, let’s see you get out there and post at a trot for even five minutes.” They just laugh, and walk away. None of them are the kind of guys I want to hang out with, as friends or anything else. Now, the guys at my stable are cool. They like horses, obviously, since they are at a stable. I enjoy being around them. And some of the guys in my class think it’s cool that I’m interested in something non-frilly and girly.

The most important thing to think about when you’re finding your prince, or knight, or even just a friend, is that if they can’t accept you for who you are, they aren’t worth it. This applie’s to horses, but it also applys to everything else in life. Don’t ever change who you are for a guy, or anyone else. Some people might be intimidated by the fact that you’re not afraid to get out there and work in the dust and dirt. But if it’s who you are, then it’s cool.

  1. Nice blog :)

  2. Gulliver is my knight in shining armour, yeah, sure he’s a horse!!! Boys think horses are stupid, I think their stupid, well, some boys…

  3. Ooo, I love this blog!! At my age girls and boys are startin’ to “hang out” And let me tell you, we might be young, but we are so different. Of course I don’t really care if I don’t find the guy for me yet, because I’m still young and I have plenty of time. And yeah, some guys do think horseback riding is for girls only. Sheesh, a lot of guys can be stupid.

  4. Champion blog! ha ha… my friend John and i have been friends since we were little. He has horses and bull rides at times soooo.. maybe in the future we might hit it off but fer now we are just friends

  5. Cool. Thanks, Rebecca. I don’t ride, but I do love horses. You’re so right about the part where if they don’t accept you for you, then they’re not right for you.

  6. HorseFeathers, I know some girls your age who are on their like third boyfriend. But then, they’re normal girls, and you are anything but normal…in a good way!

  7. Excellent blog Horsecrazzz! Part of the beauty of horses is that they can accept you for who you are. People can be idiotic, the only guys in my life are my family (dogs included) and horses. It’s great to hear from you again, I’m looking forward to your next submission :D

  8. Nice blog! I agree with you. =D

  9. haha thanks mustang23 i appreciate it. lol ;0)

  10. I agree WesternMare!

  11. 1. Madelaina, that is true for me too!

    2. Girls that are my age that I know already boys, they have boys who are friends. It doesn’t bother them to talk about the boys they like. I’m really shy, and since I’m homeschooled, I don’t really get the greatest chance to know boys. Not like I really want to or anything. Sure, there’s guys I like, but, I don’t spend all day drooling over them. And when I do find some guy I like, I tell know one at all..

  12. Thanks everyone. Im glad that you all liked it, and it felt great to write again.

  13. I Think boys are jerks. Most of them anyway. They can be so….maddening! I can’t believe how sometimes they think that they own everything or that they can beat you at anything and then I cream them at a sport or something and they say I just got ‘lucky’ and it own’t happen again and it dose and then they won’t play with me ever again!

  14. Totaly agree with you! What’s the point of changing yourself!!!Sure I like boys but some…Well let’s just say you’re right that horse guys are so nice. And thankfuly I know more horse guys than the–shhhh–bad guys.Vi,my brother’s a lot like that.Hates that I’m older than him.No guy’s gonna change my mind!☺♥☺

  15. I love this blog because i liked this boy and he didn’t like me back he i tryed to act like someone he would like and then i thought he doesn’t like me so he’s not the guy god wants me to have :) i loved your blog

  16. Hey this Blog specks the truthe if a boy doesn’t like you then hes not the right one there is someone out there for everyone and everyone doesn’t all ways find Mr. perfect right away. Rebecca your an awsome bloger.

  17. Nevada Sunshine~You and me should be friends!I’m homeschooled, and the only guys I know are a 4H and when I went to horse camp.I’m not shy around them sure, but if I’d like one I’d never say.So far huarray!I’m boy free.

Those horse guys,at camp and 4H,are so-o considerate.

Gabriella you sound like a girl at my camp. She was like that. And a guy she didn’t like troughed her.

This is a great blog Rebecca.I’m your age and I agree with you!TOTALY!!!

  18. Boys can be so so madening to say the least! Why can’t they just come out with thier feelings instead of being mean to thier crush! (some guys are just mean!) O.k. so I do have guy who tries incredably hard not to hurt me loves me and listens to me drag on and on about my problems! (ok so he’s a horse… he still rocks!) O.k. I will try to be usful instead of drag on about the down side to dudes. some of them do understand stong never ending bonds we build with our horses. others do make fun of us but most of the time they are jelous that we can love and lead a animal that could so easily hurt to kill us! If a dude is being mean to you or any body for that mater act like thier best friend. I know it’s wrong of me to say this but it’s fun to waatch your enemies squirm! lol. I think what i’m about to typ is just wrong but thats my opinion. my friends and i aren’t even in the 6th grade and some of them have had up to 15 boy friends! It relly grosses me out some of them have even made out! but guys can be sweet and caring like my best friends FRIEND. shame he don’t ride.

  19. Awesome blog that is the truth for sure. If anybody doesn’t except me for being a horse gal they are not my friend, boyfriend or whatever. I always say I am who I am and if you don’t like me, tough. I like being myself all the time and not changing for someone. That’s one of the reasons I like who I am. I’m not afraid to stand out and be myself. I like boys but when i do get a boyfiend and go out they have to like horses and be nice and respectful, that’s going to be hard to find in a boy but I’m not going out with a rude, unrespectful, nonhorsie boy. Love the blog, so true!

  20. The only boy that i’ll be liking is my big grey Gully.

  21. I wish I had a horse to be such a great friend as all of you do, but I totally agree with this blog. I mean, I doubt a guy from my school could even tack up a horse right let alone ride.

  22. Southern Belle~ I am totally horseless! If I want to ride I pay. Which I can’t because, due to the economy allowance is ut and I don’t have a summer job. When I do ride I don’t get attached just be really kind to the horse. However I have found other ways. I secretly get attached to our cows. Yeah don’t think-ewww- until you’ve seen how they come galloping to my wistle. There’s other ways to pepare for horses and have fun along the way. As for boys – being homeschooled,I payed for camp and meet some totaly cool horse guys and my 4-H has horse guys only.

  23. I wish I had a horse who could be my best friend. And I could ride them till my trouble disappeared. I could tell them my troubles.

  24. Wait. I said those things wrong in my comment above! Sorry!

  25. What I meant was:

I wish I had a horse who could be my best friend. And I could ride them till my troubles disappeared.

  26. TeeHee:

    Knights ride horses right?
so they CAN’T be your knight in shining armour without a horse or else they’ll just be a goof walking around in tin foil :)

  27. HAHAhAHAHAHAHA GoldenHorseShoe!!!! That is about the funniest comment i have ever read! lol (whipes tears from eyes)…sigh.
