Publishing Update - December 15th
Published by LeadMare • Dec 15th, 2007 • Category: GHC News
Can you believe it’s nearly 2008 — where does time go? With everyday life plus holiday preparations and celebrations, the days pass faster than a racehorse headed for the finish line.
But thank goodness for barn mice! Ours have been scurrying about to create a nice surprise especially for Girls Horse Club bloggers. Read below for info about this and other updates from behind the scenes. Thanks for reading!
Sincerely,

SUBMISSIONS ARE OPEN
From now through December 30th submissions are open for the Loft Book Club and blog. If you’re a newbie, start by reading Rebecca Shyly’s blog Welcome Newbies! and following the links for more info. Also check out Writing for the Loft Book Club by horsejo. Most of our amazing Junior Bloggers start by writing fiction, non-fiction and poetry for the Loft Book Club.
CHAPTER STORIES
Just a reminder that incomplete chapter story submissions are set aside until the final chapter arrives with ‘the end’ as the last two words (so we know it’s your final chapter). Only then are they considered for publication. If you like writing chapter stories, try completing the story before submitting each chapter.
NEW! PHOTO AND ARTWORK SUBMISSIONS
I’m happy to announce we’re now accepting photo and artwork submissions for blogs! The way it’s been implemented isn’t ideal (no offense to our barn mice) but it’s a start. Here’s how it works:
1) Submit a blog as you always do, using the online submission form.
2) Go to the photo and artwork submission form and upload the photo/artwork that goes with your blog.
For now this feature only applies to blogs, not Loft Book Club stories. If you have an interesting image but don’t have a blog to go with it, that’s OK too — perhaps we’ll publish it to inspire others! Please note photos of kids will not be published without permission from a parent, so don’t send a photo of yourself unless your parent(s) have contacted me first.
JUNIOR BLOGGERS
As you heard from Rebecca Shyly, we have two slots open for Junior Bloggers. Jeanna Briggs and barrel racer each have two blogs published as Guest Bloggers, so let’s hope to hear more from them during this submission period. And by the way, if you like submitting blogs now and then but don’t necessarily want to be on the Junior Blogger team, that’s OK too. Just let me know in the comments area of the online submission form.
Also, some Junior Bloggers have not submitted much lately. When this submission period ends I will revisit the roster and may ‘retire’ Junior Bloggers who are no longer active. Please contact me if you’d like to discuss your status.

Leadmare, just a question…
After the team of junior bloggers is complete, will everyone else still be able to submit blogs?
Yes Mustang_Heart, we’ll still accept guest blogger submissions. Then when a Junior Blogger slot opens, guest bloggers with 3 or more published blogs will have first shot at that slot. Hope this answers your question.
Also, I forgot to mention that I will revisit the roster after this submission period. See the last paragraph above (just added) for more info.
Well,I’ve submitted quite a few blogs in the last bit so I shouldb’t be retired,should I? :-/
I cannot believe it is almost 2008…I am really happy. Another thing is…CHRISTMAS!
I submitted 2 blogs today, which are Just Say Whoa, and Shout Out to the World: Now! So if these BOTH get submitted, I will have a completion of 3 blogs in all. I hope I can be a junior blogger! :)
Cassie, you’ve had many great blogs published in the last few months so no worries. Thanks for all you contribute to GHC!
Awesome!
I cannot think of any blogs. I hope I do not get kicked out of Jr. Blogger.
Umm LeadMare: Am I on the list to be retired?
cause I love bein one…
PLEASE DON”T RETIRE ME!!!!
horsejo and Horsecrazzz, no worries — you’re both in very good standing. I’m only thinking about JBs who have not submitted anything during the last couple of submission periods.
horsejo, don’t worry if you can’t think of anything. You submitted many blogs in November and some are still in the queue to be published. No pressure.
Thanks!
It’s really interesting to hear about the photo and artwork submissions. I might try that, but what do you have to do at the code area? Also, good luck to everyone with their blogs, you’ll figure out something!
Hi Madelaina,
If you mean the code area on the form, that’s just a standard thing on a lot of online forms to deter spammer robots. If you try sending a photo and don’t type the code (or type the wrong code) you’ll get an error message.
Hope this answers your question — I’ll ask the barn mice to clarify it on the form. ;)
That’s great to know we will be welcoming some new bloggers into GHC!
If only I had known you could post blogs as a guest sooner… :((
Ah, oh well! I’m excited to see what our new bloggers will bring to the club!
Thanks a lot LeadMare! That was very helpful! :)
LeadMare, I was just wondering if I’m ok blogger-wise. I didn’t submit as many blogs last month, but I’m working on at least three for this month.
Thanks.
B-)
Julia, you’re fine. I’m only thinking about JBs who have not submitted anything over the last few months. No pressure — we’ll look forward to your next blog(s).
