Publishing Update - January 26th

Published by LeadMare • Jan 26th, 2008 • Category: GHC News

GHC BarnFirst, thanks for your patience while I review the many submissions received so far and start filling out the publishing calendar. I’m also working on behind-the-scenes changes to streamline publishing and perhaps add a new feature or two (with help from the barn mice, of course). It’s a busy time, but hopefully it will be worth the wait. Look for some positive changes in the coming months…

While you’re waiting, check out the great new content coming into the Loft Book Club, including two completed chapter stories. To make it easier to find them, there’s a ‘New Loft Stories’ sidebar to the right, just under ‘New Blogs’. Enjoy!

JUNIOR BLOGGERS
As you know, we have one opening on the Junior Blogger roster and several talented guest bloggers vying for a spot including Jeanna Briggs, Lauren, SB, Allison, some newbies, and maybe more before submissions close. I haven’t forgotten my recent note to self so I’ll be asking for help choosing #10. Here are two options:

  1. You can tell me to suck it up and make this tough decision on my own.
  2. I can publish the blog submission(s) from each candidate in the coming weeks, then once they’re all posted you vote for the winner(s).

Thoughts?

UPDATE 02-02-08: The herd has spoken.;)Here’s the plan for determining the next Junior Blogger:

The week of Feb 4th I’ll publish the 2nd blog from each JB candidate who currently has just 1 guest blog (SB, tash, Allison). They will be posted throughout the week, along with blogs from our active JBs.

The following week I’ll publish the 3rd blog from each candidate (Jeanna Briggs, Rosie, Lauren, SB, tash, Allison) — all on February 14th. At that point voting will begin.

Good luck to all who are interested in becoming the next Junior Blogger!

GHC ETIQUETTE
I interrupt this update for a brief LeadMare moment. Our guest and Junior Bloggers put a lot of heart and soul into their writing, and are very generous about sharing their talent. I see them as passive leaders, a term used by horse trainer Mark Rashid to describe the horses in the herd who lead by example rather than through dominance and aggression. In the human world, I prefer passive leaders and try to be a passive leader. But if you’ve been hanging around our virtual barn for a while, you know on occasion I do get nippy to make a point.

So the point is — let’s show our respect to the guest and Junior Bloggers with comments that are related to the topic of the blog and relevant to all readers. You don’t always have to agree with the blogger’s perspective, but thanks for playing nice in the herd.

IMAGE SUBMISSIONS
It’s great to see some image submissions coming in! Please keep in mind I won’t publish photos of kids without permission from a parent. This is out of respect for your privacy. If your parent has said it’s OK to submit an image of yourself, they can let me know via the Contact Form. I’ve added this info to the submission form as a reminder.

Now, time for me to get busy filling out the publishing calendar. Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,
LeadMare-signature-y.gif

  7. To all who are interested in being Junior Bloggers, thanks for your patience and enthusiasm. You’re very talented! Even if you don’t make it during this submission period, you’ll still be in line when another slot opens up and you’re always welcome as a guest blogger and/or Loft Book Club author.

  9. I think we should vote. I hope that there are no hurt feelings….. :-S

  10. Those are all excellent ideas, and I can certainly tell it’s going to be difficult. I think that we should vote so that everyone can speak their opinion and can be left anonymous. But I also think that you should and can vote too since you aren’t called LeadMare for nothing! :D

  11. I agree that we should vote! :D

  12. I agree with Madelaina, i reckon a vote would be the most fairest thing. haveing it anonymous is a good idea too. LeadmMare should DEFENTLY vote!

  13. Yeah leadmare if we vote you vote too!!

  14. I’m kinda confused how everything is gonna work… If the person’s third blog is submitted will we all vote on who we like or is it whoevers first gets the spot?? :-?

  16. ok thankx Tash!

  17. When are we going to do the voting or whatever we’re dong?

  18. Good question SB. We’re working on getting everything ready right now. Here’s the plan:

Next week I’ll publish the 2nd blog from each JB candidate who currently has just 1 guest blog (that includes you SB). They will be posted throughout the week, along with blogs from our active JBs.

The the following week I’ll publish the 3rd blog from each candidate — all on the same day. At that point voting will begin.

Good luck to you and all who are interested in becoming the next Junior Blogger!

  19. i can’t wait till everyone starts to vote! i wish the blog sumissions were still open! my pony fell while i was riding her the other day and ive hurt my arm and can’t ride so all i’ve been doing is writing blogs and Loft Book Club stories! 24. Rosie, I think you are a great writer, and you you defiantly deserve to be a junior blogger, Good Luck :)

  25. I wish all of us guest bloggers could be a junior blogger! All the stories are so good! Tash, I LOVE Beach Horse! The other submissions are great, too! :)

  26. Allison, you all have a shot if you’re patient and persistent. JBs do move onto other things so new slots open up. If you don’t make it in this round, there will be other opportunities before you know it.

    :)

  27. thanks Allison! i wish luck to all the other guest bloggers! unfortanetly only one of us can become a Jr B! I have a few Q’s LeadMare:
    1. How long will the voting be open for?
    2. Once the Jr. Blooger has been decided will the people that have made 3 blogs but can’t be Jr. Blogger till another spot opens still be able to submit blogs or will they have to wait till they are Jr. Bloggers?

Hope you understood that last Q! lol.

We gotta promise no hard feelings to the chosen Jr Blooger!:D

  28. tash, good questions.

    1) I’m thinking voting will go through February 29th.
    2) Submissions from JBs get moved to the top of the publishing queue, but guest blogs are always welcome.

Voters will need to be thoughtful about their choice as they only get one vote.

  29. thanks. okay. i can’t wait!! only 8-7 more days! and only 2 more days till my fave blog i’ve made gets submitted! look out for Magical Horses! its my fav one i’ve written so far!

  30. Thanks Jeanna you too you are an awesome writer!

  31. I love the pictures stories, everything THANKX :D

  32. LeadMare, is the only difference between Jr. Bloggers and Guest Bloggers that Jr. Bloggers submissions get moved to the top of the publishing queue? Do Jr. Blogger spots open only when another Jr. Blogger decides not to be one?
    :)

  33. Hay Allison, good question. Please click here for the answer to this and other questions related to blogging.
