Rainy Day Horse Fun and Crafts

I know that most of us hate days when the rain (or snow) just won’t stop, when we can’t go out and ride or just enjoy the lovely weather. We cannot stop the rain, but we can enjoy it. Once you do all of these fun activities and crafts, you will be wishing for it to rain all of the time!

HORSE BULLETIN BOARD - Take a few sheets of paper, scissors, some tacks, a bulletin board, and some colored pencils or markers. Draw some pretty horses in various sizes and positions with different markings. Then color your art in. Draw some scenery like grass, trees, and clouds on pieces of paper. Color them whatever colors you want. Then cut everything out and arrange them on the bulletin board using tacks. Now you have a scene of horses to hang on your wall, and you can easily rearrange the pieces or swap in new ones for variety. You can also do this by cutting out pictures from a horse magazine.

THINKING FAST - For this game you need one piece of paper and one pencil for everyone playing. There can be two or more players. First, decide on a horse category, like horse breeds, horse foods, horse movies, or anything else that you want. Get a timer and set it for 2 minutes. When the timer starts, everyone begins to list items within the chosen category. When the timer ends, the person with the most correct answers is the winner and they get to choose the next category. You can keep going until you want to stop, or when everyone gets a chance to win.

HORSE WORDS - Two or more people can play this game. Everyone needs a sheet of paper and something to write with. To start, let the group decide on the name of a horse movie or famous rider or something to do with horses. Using the letters in the word, try to find as many words to do with horses as you can. You might end up with a lot of words, or none at all!

HORSE SNACK - Do you want to eat like a horse? Get out some carrots and apples. Wash them well in the sink. Then make any type of cake that you want. Use green icing on the top so it looks like grass. Pour glasses of water, because that is all that horses can drink. When setting the table, put out some horse photos and get the room looking horse-like. Then invite your family to share this very tasty snack. All of you will be eating like horses!

So next time it rains, keep these fun ideas in mind, and even if it doesn’t rain, you still may want to do all of these cool things because you could love it that much! If you have other neat horse games or crafts you’d like to share, post them in the comments. Thank you!
