When I read this, I envision tons of wild mustangs, running free on the plains racing the wind, running as fast as possible. I imagine mustangs gathered around a lake, drinking their fill on a hot summer's day. I think of one certain herd of mustangs, one that will always be in my heart, one that I will especially cherish. The thing is, this one herd of wild mustangs isn't a specific herd; it is all the mustangs, together as one. Because truly, all wild horses are one huge band at heart. Every mustang's life is somehow entwined with others', and that is the beauty of it all. Champion work, Vi, please keep it up! One of my favorite pieces of yours! This poem struck home for me. This poem makes me want to sing... i can almost hear the mustangs hooves sing the thunder of freedom as they pound the earth in unison with the herd.
