Remember to Count Your Horse Blessings

All of us here at Girls Horse Club love horses, but we differ in our relationships with them. Some of us are blessed enough to own horses, some of us take lessons. Yet, there are still some of us who are limited to dreams and books and images. Some of us at Girls Horse Club dream of waking up and going to be next to our beloved companions. Others dream of their next time to be in the saddle, flying over jumps. Still others have dreams of longing, of owning a horse or taking lessons.

I know the dreams of longing. I have loved horses ever since I knew they existed. I cling to those dreams, remembering them throughout the day. Yet, the sorrow they bring along is just as intense. Why do I only get to see horses in my dreams while others can touch, and ride, and own?

What hurts me more than being distanced from our hoofed friends is to see people who think I’m crazy for caring so passionately for them. All too often have I expressed my love of horses to someone who has ridden before, and gotten the response, “Why do you like them so much? They’re just horses.” I’ve also been teased for my love of horses. I used to have folders with pictures of showy Arabs, elegant Friesians, and wild Mustangs, but some people at school thought it was childish. How could others not see the beauty, grace, and trust in them? For a while I rid myself of these possessions. I’m glad to say I’ve started using the horse folders again.

I’m thrilled to have found Girls Horse Club. Never have I seen an online community like this one, filled with people who all share the same passion. My message here, is to count your blessings. Whether you’re like me, or you are able to interact with horses, I hope you always remember how lucky you are to have found the joy of horses. Also remember to never give up hope. I’ve actually managed to find a way to be around horses, you just have to look hard enough. The answer is often right under your nose.

Mustang_Heart: Wow!!!! I never met a new member with so much talent! Your blog is amazing and I LOVE it. I’ve never been teased for luving horses (Lucky me), and I hope I never am. Shame on those people who don’t love horses. I really, truely, love this blog. ANother on my fav list, who knows when it will end… 8-}
OH MY GOD Mustang_Heart that was BEAUTIFUL!!!! I know wat u mean! Everyday I remember how lucky I am to be able to take lessons help out at shows and have horses live close by (all though i can’t ride them!). I live in the suburbs with just 2 horse farms left within walking area (neither of them is were i ride) but 1 of them will soon be turned into a housing developement leaving me with just 1 to go to and your not aloud to interact with the horses (its a private one not one were u can take lessons or go for rides!)
Mustang_Heart, this was beautiful.
I hate the boys in my class who don’t care about horses because they are just:
“Stupid animals that smell bad.”
But we all know they aren’t
Mustang_Heart, I can totally relate! You aare exactly like I am and I also get the same response from people. All the girls in my neighborhood don’t like horses, they would rather put make up on or go to the mall! Well… All of them except me and two other girls. At leaset SOME people care about these animals!
Wow, I’m flattered. I definatly didn’t expect this result from my blog! Thanks you guys, I’m really inspired to keep writing now. Origionally, this was only going to be a one time thing, but who knows, maybe I’ll become a junior blogger!
This is a great blog Mustang at Heart. I love horses so much. I am one of the lucky ones who actually lives on a ranch, and so I see not just horses,but my horses every day. However, I have been teased for being a horse freak too. That’s what happens when a country girl ends up having to go to a school in the city. People think they know all about horses, but they don’t. If you believe that one day you will own a horse you will, because if you believe it you can achieve it. Keep on loving horses!! :D
This is really great,thank you so much! :D I never really thought about counting my blessings before,but i really do have alot..
I agree, this was so true and beautiful. I think only horse girls can understand each other’s passion. Great job. Besides, if you love horses enough youcan make the dream the reality. 8-}
Hey! i really can relate to those of you who have boys tease u! But most of the girly girls r like AWWWWW horses are sooo cute! So even if they know nothin about horses at least they don’t insult them or tease me!
Mustang_Heart,
You are truley amazing, insipring, and well, blessed! Maybe not blessed with a horse that you own, but you have a gift for writing!
Don’t ever stop believing in your dreams just becuase some not very smart person says horses (or anything else you do) are stupid.
I think that you have alot of talent! If it is what you want then I think that you would make the team of Jr. Bloggers so much stronger!!! {:D}
Horsecrazzz, you are so right! Mustang_Heart, you are a very amzing blog writer. I would be honored to have you as a fellow Jr. Blogger. :)
Horsecrazzz, you are giving me way to much credit! :P Thank you, though, really.
I think the reason those people had problems with me liking horses is because, well, they didn’t like me, and they always tried to be older. They saw liking horses as a little kid stage. :/ That was a few years ago, though. I think they’ve matured a bit more now.
I Love This Blog!!! This puts my thoughts in words also. I feel the same way Mustang_Heart. WOW! Beautiful 8-}
I *heart* this blog!!!! Mustang_Heart, you are one of the few people on this earth who know what it truly means to be a horselover! It’s not about how much time you spend at the barn, it’s how much you CARE about horses! I’ve been trying to figure out how to say that, and you said it PERFECTLY! You totally rock! :) ;) :D :))
Wow Mustang_Heart! I would love to welcome you with open arms as a future Jr. Blogger. You showed so much talent and skill in this beautiful blog! It’s funny how all people think loving horses or any other animal is just a stage. Keep up the brilliant work! :))
Thanks. :) I wasn’t planning to write this, just kind of floated into my head. Usually, I don’t know what to write. It could take some time for me to come up with more topics, but hopefully when I do it’ll be inspiring! I’m blushing so much right now from all your nice comments. :)
Wow, this blog is awesome and for me, proven true. I might post a story about my experience of last night, which is a lot like the moral of this blog.GREAT JOB, Mustang_Heart!
