Reverie

by Rochlia, age 14
suddenly I am swept away
taken by a daydream
up upon a balcony
leaning on the rails
the shining sun before me
the world beneath my feet
I scan the forests and prairies
glimpse eternity in miles
every secret place
nothing is hidden from view
yet only one thing catches my eye
four horses borne in the wind
with lightning speed they canter
over meadows, fields, and plains
fading into forests
jumping waterfalls with ease
rejoicing in freedom
they have fire in their eyes
none will ever capture them
and no one do they fear
as I watch, the sky grows dim
darkness fills the heavens
I’m afraid they will depart
disappear into the shadows
and leave me here, by myself
alone in my reverie

Oh, LOVE the picture. Beautiful!! <3 :0)
Awesome!!
I love it. It’s great.
Ah, inspired! It really makes you think about each line.
Awesome! I’m guessing the poem is about a person leaning on a balcony and imagining wild horses running free?

Whoa beautiful, Rochlia! Great job :)
Rochlia that’s beautiful! I was so at ease and inspired when reading every line, especially “glimpse eternity in miles”. I couldn’t stop myself from re-reading it!
It’s so awesome to be back at GHC and talking to yall again!!! haha mustang23 I agree with you-I was checking the website every day!lol
Thanks everyone!! I’ve never seen a real wild horse, but they live in my heart! This poem was based off of a dream I had, and the line ‘jumping waterfalls with ease’ is based off the Silver Brumby book, Wild Echoes Ringing, because the horses jump a magic waterfall. I love the picture, THANKS LEADMARE!
Wonderful work, Rochlia! It is so good to be back here at GHC, and this is a wonderful poem to help kick off March For The Wild Horses. Wicked awesome job, and I sure hope that you write some more about the Mustangs! Great to be back, guys… I hope that we can really take a stand against BLM & help save America’s heritage…. One horse at a time!
Great poem Rochlia!
p.s.I’ve changed my name from Lucy Digro to Luna Digro.
