Saying Goodbye and Moving On

In Saying Goodbye I told you Lady got taken back to her old home. Well, that very same day she got sold. I don’t know much about the lady who bought her, but that she had a young daughter. To hear she already was sold was really sad because now I know I will never ever get to say goodbye.
About four days ago the new horse, Chiquita, got trailered to our house. Chiquita is a one and a half year-old Welsh Pony who is already over twelve hands (which is really tall for a Welsh her age). The challenging thing is, as a baby her mom was so overly protective, so she got pretty much no human interaction whatsoever. When she got older she was handled a bit, but she is still not quite used to humans. So at this point I’m just getting her used to being touched and being approached.
She is a lot different from Lady who would follow you around everywhere you went, but I have to remember there was a time when Lady acted the same as Chiquita does now.
It is really really sad to think that I will never see Lady again, but I guess I just have to remember all those hilarious, happy, and even sad times we experienced side-by-side.

Champion blog! I hope you recieve better results with this new pony and she learns to trust you.

with hard work and lots of love she’ll be just as obedient as Lady. You’ll never be able to replace Lady though. Horses are each different and special. I am sorry Lady had to go but look foward to exciting things with this new horse
Good luck! She sounds like a handful but I’m sure you’ll do fine:)
Great job! I’m praying for you and wishing you the best of luck!
Just what I needed! Today I found out the horse I’ve been riding, Jodi, may be sold and my riding lessons discontined. Your blog really helped me!
Sometimes it’s hard to stay strong and move on Ginger, but you sound like you’re doing it. Hang in there, I’m praying!
Good luck traning Chiquita!
Don’t worry. It’s tough losing a horse or pony you love. The last share I did was a beautiful mare. At about easter, I found out she died at easter. Hang in there, and I’m sure you can have lots of hopes for Chiquitia, and with alot of bonding and love, you two will become as closer than ever!
Thats taugh loosing Lady, but I hope you and your new Welsh have a wonderful relationship!
Think of this as something bittersweet. With the horrid of losing Lady, you can now create a new bond with a new horse, experiencing something else that’s unique. I agree with everyone else that horses can’t be replaced, but you might even be able to relive your memories of Lady with Chiquita on her journey. The road of life is constantly challenging you to move on, and you’re doing really well. I’ll be cheering for both you and Chiquita!
