Shout Out to the World — Now!

Some angry and dumb people who believe in horse slaughter don’t realize these important things: Horses are basically like us. They eat and drink and move around (like us), they have a nose, different colored hair, eyes, and ears (like us). If they are similar to us, why go out and torture them?

Stand for MeI can’t explain in words why horses make us change, make us a better person than we could’ve been one day ago, or one year ago. I am okay with people who don’t like horses. That is their choice and it is none of my business, as long as they don’t hurt them, ignore them, and say mean things about them.

People need to stand up, and realize things. They hear it, yes, but why don’t they do what they hear? To me, horses bring out good things: My dreams, hopes, ambitions, and the future that I CAN plan. Yes some may be wild. Some may be crazy. But I say, “There is no such thing as a MEAN horse. It is just a hurt soul inside.” You really have to work hard to make horses that angry. But you also have to work hard to get a horse’s trust, which takes a while to earn and that is the good thing about it. You get to learn, AND you get a step closer to that trust.

I am an opinionated 10-year-old that makes my own decisions. I take responsibility for my own actions. I stand up for what I believe in. So stop being nervous now and shout out to the world for what YOU believe in.

  1. I hope you like my blog! Leadmare, did you cut off part of my blog? or was it alredy like that?

  2. Lauren, with the exception of the usual copy editing (correcting spelling, punctuation, grammar errors) and the addition of a GHC photo illustration, this is what you submitted.

  3. Excellent Lauren! I did say I’ll congratulate you on your improvements, and they’ve come so soon! So here it is: after reading it, and even in the middle of it, I was thinking to myself how thoughtful and well-written this blog can be. It’s nearly made me cry reading it. Horses are never “dumb” or anything else mean or bad for that matter. We’ve got to stand up for horses, because their welfare and such are much more important than nerves. :D

  4. Wow! I am going to take your advice (shouting)STOP HURTING HORSES!!!!! THEY ARE ALIVE TOO!!!!! STOP SLAUGHTERING THEM!!!
Okay, I took your advice. THat was really refreshing I’m going to do it more often ;)
Great job. This blog was really inspiring! You truley are an amazing author Lauren. Keep it up! Only one more blog and your a Jr. Blogger!

  5. thx! iv been waiting for something like thes! ur so right! :)

  6. I used to be completly against horse slaughter but everything people say isn’t exactly what happens to horses. Maybe that happenned before but now we have a more humane way of ’slaughtering’ horses. All we do now is euthinize them with a needle and they die quick and painlessly.

Also, horse slaughter is NOT the issue. Animal abuse is. Can you guess why horses are slaughtered in the first place? Because of people who breed their horses too much and can’t handle the babies so they give them to slaughterhouses. Personally, if I knew I didn’t have enough room for more horses I wouldnn’t do that. Also, people eat horses but we can’t stop that, it’s their culture. Some people are against us eating chicken and cows, but we don’t stop do we?

People who have horses and just starve them because they didn’t know what to give them to eat is a lot worse then euthinizing a horse. If I was in that much pain I think I would rather be killed with a little needle.

Maybe some of you will change your minds about horse slaughter, think that if horses weren’t euthinized we would have all these horses being starved to death and in poor conditions because some people don’t know what to do with them! So hopefully you changed your minds, I know I did.

  7. I LOVE THIS BLOG! u have improved alot from ur other submissions! it reminds me of one of my first blogs about the abaco barb! anyway congrats on a very strong, meaningful, & convincing blog!

  8. Jenna, you’re right about slaughter being more humane than it was, but they put a bolt gun to the horse’s head and shoot, and there is a video where a worker shoots a horse in the shoulder, causing it more pain before they went to the head. Also, the transportation is horrible!

    Great blog, Lauren!

  9. Wait, the comment I just sent was not accurate. I was curious and went out to do some research, and found out some more. Slaughter is not humane at ALL. I do not want to say more, for it is extremely sickening.

  10. Awesome blog Lauren! I agree Stargazer, horse slaughter is sickening!

  11. You’re all right, and it is completely unhumane. The transportation is just as bad, I’ve written a blog about it but I don’t think it’s going to be published.
    Well done Lauren!!

  12. I’ve heard their transportation are like the trucks they use for bulls. I bet lots of horses die alone on their journey by a broken leg or starvation. There’s nothing good about slaughter, actually, I’ll get on to that.

They sometimes send perfectly good foals and horses to the slaughter house, away from a successful future or away from a willing family to take him or her in. They have to suffer a dreadful journey without any decent food and water. If you have ever seen a bull truck you’ll know it’s not suitable for horses. Bulls are much tougher than horses! Yes, some people says slaughter ends horses’ pains. But wouldn’t you rather want a horse not suffer more when it dies? It’s not ending a horse’s pain if you’re going to abuse it with sticks and bullets, it’s adding more to it! And haven’t they endured enough throughout the trip and their awful surroundings having to bear other horses’ cries?

I agree, ending a horse in pain is a good thing. But at least they can do it more humanely! Give other bidders a chance to bid, throw out any weapons and just settle on needles. If they take a turn in fixing their transportation and correcting their past mistakes, horses would be much better off.

Also, slaughter people should know that they shouldn’t kill foals or perfectly healthy horses. Many still want a loving home, many still deserve a chance. And I’m saying, if only they make their business more humane, then ONLY sick and weary horses should be sent there. I guess it’s only that way that will end their pain. Old horses have unbearable sicknesses, but young ones still have a place in their heart for a horse girl like us. Sending them away to the slaughter houses aren’t going to cure that pain.

Horses and all the other animals out there for that matter, are living creatures. They have feelings, a brain and a heart. They make decisions and they deserve as much chance as we do. Maybe they aren’t as smart as us, maybe they look different, or are degraded because of their disability to be of much use as workers or anything. But that’s wrong, animals are never slaves. They were here on this planet first, they’ve learnt to adapt to their surroundings, yet humans have to change their’s to survive. So in the end, they should deserve a chance to fly or run as they wish. And I suggest to everyone, DON’T JUST SIT THERE, SHOUT OUT TO THE WORLD! STOP HORSE SLAUGHTER, END ANIMAL ABUSE! Ah, that felt much, much better.

  13. Of course we’ve all heard about horse slaughter what, over a million times? But has anyone heard about horse fighting? Some chinese people put two stallions in an arena to literally fight until one of them is too weak to fight anymore or until they other one dies. They savagly kick and bite eachother. It is so barbaric and they think it is thrilling and exciting to watch.. Many people have tried to end this but the chinese people won’t stop because it’s their culture.

  14. My brother said something that hurt my friends feelings really bad. My friend is really good at riding and she loves horses. She is in Horse bowl. My brother said,” Horse bowl, the only thing horses should be in.”
    :(
