Thanks so much, everyone. You guys really know how to make someone humbled feel good about themselves, haha.

Nevada Sunshine: Hmm, that's interesting, I'll have a look into that. Sadly, I haven't been able to read much of the Phantom Stallion series, so I'm oblivious to the characters and the relationships between them. But, I'm thinking the poem is based on a different kind of wind-matching horse, hardships and magic - this one more metaphorical. Thanks for telling me :D

Lucy Digro, building on that above note, my lesson horse loves drifting out during circles and changing directions when, after a debate of where we should go, we almost crash into something. His canter can be a dream, but often it's so exaggerated and huge that it feels like you're riding the wind with all of its velocity.Though I love him so much, I still have a LOT to learn from him, hence why those last two stanzas were chosen to represent it.

Wow, that is amazing! Okay I know I'm most likely wrong, but this reminds me of Sam (Phantom Stallion) with the Phantom. These are the two parts that remind me most of them:

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
You’re one to be ridden with caution
for you match the wind.
Unsteady, changing, intangible.
You are moody – speedy and sloth-like
sensitive yet ignorant.
My rides are difficult,
my confidence quivering
and my aids then cowardly.
You might be a great pain
but you care for me always.

No matter the hardships
I will always forgive, keep trusting you,
keep loving you,
believing in your magic,
my Snow Horse.
