Some Just Need a Break

Ever felt like you wanted to stop horseback riding for a while? Or just quit? Some of us have. Many girls out there feel like they’re being pressured about horseback riding. Maybe horseback riding runs in your family, but just doesn’t seem right for you. Many riders get discouraged and disappointed if they do something incorrect in jumping, or doing a new gait.
Here’s some good advice you might need to know:
- Don’t get discouraged. If you’re just new to riding, or you’ve made a mistake, think about all those professional riders! They don’t just get out there and start to ride like a pro. They practice and work hard to try not to make that mistake again.
- Tell your parents. Set aside some time with your mom and dad. Tell them that you aren’t that interested in riding, or you just need a break. If you own a horse and want a break, ask a friend or family member that lives close by to go and take care of your horse while you’re on break. Make sure the person that takes care of your horse knows what to do. You might have to give that person a list and show them how to do it.
- Ask your riding teacher. Ask for some advice or help making the choice to take a break for awhile. He/she might offer to take care of your horse, and/or to stop your riding lessons for a couple of weeks.
Even if you haven’t been through some time like this, maybe your friend has. Help him/her out by giving them some advice. I am sure they would appreciate it. I know I would have!

so true i’ve wanted to do it so many times when i got mad at my coach, but my parents and friends encouraged me and now i am a better rider!
could job on the blog:) My friend is like that her familly owns horses but shes not really into it. To me when i’m sad i just want to ride. Riding to me just makes me feel so lucky. Because i know some people can’t afford riding lessons or a horse. Any way keep up the good work:):):)):
I would never want to quit, but good blog anyway! I hate it when people who aren’t interested in horses get their own horse because their family are into it, because there are so many girls who love horses but they don’t even get lessons.
Excellent blog mustangmane! This is really helpful for many horse riders, it’s great you thought of the idea. I’m really enjoy reading your blogs :)
