Sorrow and Joy

The sorrow I find knowing your past
Is hard to overcome when you have fear
I see in your eyes the abuse and know
That to escape the whip you had to be fast.

The snarls and screams echoed in your ear
As you galloped away
You came to me and gave me your love
A debt to you I can never repay.

I see joy in your eyes and love in your heart
Despite your hard life you are very smart
Despite their cruel ways and their curses on you
My friend, my horse, you always pull through.

I feel sad at your past but that I can’t change
But a bright future you have with me
I love you more than words can say
And we’ll always be happy.

  3. Amazing poem. :) I’m not sure if I have your perspective, but in my point of view its showing that a rescued horse can be just as good as any other, if you get what I mean.

  4. This is one of the fantastic poems I have read that balances the bitter and the sweet. I find there’s a certain magic to an abused horse turning into a loved and joyful horse. Wonderful, wonderful job!
