Soy Libre: I Am Free

A traves del pastizal
corro,
mis pezunas golpeando el suelo.
Mi crin cae a mis rodillas,
mi cola roza el suelo,
una chispa en mis ojos, una flama
que no se ve en muchos,
Como el viento,
soy un fantasma,
oido, mas no visto.
Soy parte del cielo,
parte de la tierra…
Soy libre.

Across the range
I run,
hooves pounding the ground.
My mane falls to my knees,
my tail grazes the ground,
my eyes have a spark, a flame
not seen in most.
Like the wind,
I’m a ghost,
heard yet not seen.
I am part of the sky,
part of the earth…
I am free.

………………….eyes are popping out of my head! THAT WAS AMAZING! OH MY GOODNESS THAT WAS LIKE THE BEST DESCRIPTION OF BEING WILD I HAVE EVER HEARD! And it almost goes along with my story that was published today. That is so cool!
Amazing! Would be awesome even if it wasn’t in Spanish!!
Ay Dios mio, Blaze’ncowgirl, esta es hermosa! OMG, Blaze’ncowgirl, this is beautiful! I love Spanish! It is a really pretty language. I’m Puerto-Rican, so I hear Spanish all the time. Are you Hispanic?
I like it!
that is really beautiful!Great job the spanish was like a amazing touch!!!!!!
I love this! It’s a cultural blend, and both languages are so rhythmic and beautiful in word choice… AWESOME JOB! *thumbs up*
I love it! Did you do this for Cinco de Mayo?
This is beautiful beyond words. both languages portray the poem perfectly. What a poet you are! Brilliant, brilliant writing.
It’s very refreshing (not to metion awsome!) to read this; I could read it over and over again!
This poem is brief, but in it’s few lines it says so much and paints a beautiful picture. Reading this, in both languages, is humbling for me.
Thanks for all the wonderful comments. =)
Allison no I did not write this for Cinco de Mayo. I wrote this about a month ago. I think it is really cool though that it was posted on Cinco de Mayo! What a coincidence.
HorseFeathers and mustang23, yes I am part Hispanic. I am also Irish, etc… But I don’t speak Spanish. My mother was not taught Spanish because my grandmother was beaten in public school by the teachers for speaking Spanish. So she didn’t teach her kids in order to protect them, but by the time my mom was about 10 Spanish was being taught in the schools and had become a good thing to know. So I am studying Spanish online :)
I wrote this poem and then tried to translate it. I needed some help though, so a friend of my moms corrected my mistakes and…. voila.
Thanks again for the support.
Champion… yes i read about that in schools that occured a long time ago. =0( Actualy i am taking Espenol right now and im almost fluent =0) you can still tell i have an English/American accent though. lol Good Job
