Spring Break Begins
Published by LeadMare • Apr 7th, 2008 • Category: GHC News
THANKS to everyone who submitted blogs and stories during March. It was a relatively light month so everything in the publishing queue has been posted. Although many of our writers and readers are busy with school, we still received some great content to keep you entertained and informed during…
SPRING BREAK! As previously mentioned, April marks the beginning of spring break at Girls Horse Club. During this time, our virtual barn will be quiet while I take some time to clear the clutter and cobwebs, enjoy spring in the *real* world, and think about what’s next (remember, change is good). Here’s what to expect this month:
- Story and blog submissions will be closed throughout April
- Comments may be closed for some of the break
- Perhaps the quiet will bring out the barn mice (those furry buggers just love leaving little surprises for your enjoyment)
There’s always something to read here at the Blog or in the Loft Book Club and Stables along with activities like Freebie Games and Perfect Horse. But if it’s spring in your area don’t be sitting around in the virtual world—get outside and have some fun!
Until our paths cross again, stay safe and enjoy the ride.
Sincerely,

Leadmare, I didn’t get a chance to submit anything in March because of school. I was planning on submitting some things this month but it’s closed. Will I be removed from the roster?
Stargazer, here’s what it says on the MEET THE BLOGGERS page: ‘If you’re too busy to contribute or need a break from blogging for a month or two, that’s OK…’ So you’re fine. I did update the roster over the weekend, but beyond that it will not change during the break. Hope this is helpful.
don’t expect to see me around much untill possibly middle of May! I have LOTS of riding comps coming up and I’m getting behind on my school work. Sorry guys but if theres no new blogs to write/read/comment I don’t have much to do! lol. I might come on 4 times during the break but I’ll be really busy! So I’ll see all of you great young writers soon!
woah! I just noticed that there are only 7 JB’s! woah! I hope I can try to be one! Can’t wait fro submissions to be open! YAY! Leadmare: why wasn’t my blog that I submitted published? I submitted it a long time ago!
Hi Asia. We don’t publish every submission. First priority goes to Junior Bloggers. After that if we have open slots we consider guest blogs. If something isn’t published it can be for a number of reasons (see the Frequently Asked Questions for more info).
Don’t be discouraged if you’re not published on your first attempt. Most of our JBs have stories published in the Loft Book Club before they even try for a slot on the JB team. Hope you’ll keep trying.
Unfortunately for me winter’s around the corner and its cozier to be staying inside. Anyway, I’ve been brainstorming for a while and this break would help refresh me into putting those ideas into blogs and stories. Have a great break everyone, especially LeadMare since you work so hard to keep Girls Horse Club running smoothly!
No body will no me, but I thought I’d say something. Why do you need to do spring cleaning? Is it to make Girls horse club a better place? :-/ :-S :-?
My comment never got published, why not? I saw it on my computer, but I checked on my laptop and its not there. Please reply soon! B-)
Madelaina, thanks as always for your support and thoughtfulness. Winter is definitely a good time to hibernate and write. Have fun!
Caity, welcome and thanks for your questions. I don’t know if spring cleaning will make GHC a better place (that depends on what you’re looking for) but even a virtual barn requires effort and resources to run. Periodically I need to do maintenance, and also like to change things around to keep it fresh.
This is a site for horse girls of all ages so comments are moderated to assure a safe and friendly place. You will see a preview of your comment (which also says: Thanks, your comment has been sent for moderation) and it will generally be approved within 24 hours as long as it follows our ground rules.
Hope this answers your questions! :)
Hi everyone! LeadMare, you have done great this year! You’ve made our year so fun and special. I hope everyone has a good spring break! I am in year-round school and I’m on track 4, so I’m tracked out right now. Sow basically, my tracking out for 3 weeks is my spring break! I’m going to go trot over the greener part of the pasture. ;) Bye! :-h
I don’t know what to do, at the moment all I have been doing is sitting inside and going on the computer or watching telly. The blog post says get out and have fun, but I don’t know what to do! I only go horse riding on Saturdays. Does anybody have any ideas?
(sorry about my moaning) O:-)
Caity, you should call a friend and see if they can come hang out. Get outside and do whatever you want! My friends and I usually enjoy stupidness and dancing. It is sooooo fun!
LeadMare: Sorry to bother you when your trying to get a break from the virtual worls (and a well deserved one at that!) but I noticed that I have not recieved an April Newsletter, and do ot remember getting one for March. Did I get removed from the list or did I just miss it? Just Wondering! Hope you have a great Spring Break, after all you work hard on this website and we all know it’s hard work to constantly publish edit and keep things neat!
Thanks Stargazer, I’ll see if any of my friends are around. B-)
Hi Horsecrazzz. You haven’t received a newsletter because I haven’t sent one since December. A while back I asked if others wanted to contribute, but no one took the reins so until I can find a way to do the newsletter along with everything else, it will be on hiatus.
I don’t mind keeping comments open during the break, but they will be closed for a week starting today. Take care and enjoy the quiet!
