Strong Will, Strong Heart

Cantering forward, jumping the fence,
Flicking his ears, bending his neck.
Perfect posture, perfect moves,
Everything is in a perfect groove.

Then comes me on my pinto mare,
Her ears pinned back, she doesn’t care.
She fights me, wanting to run,
But she jumps the fence, she shows everyone.

My mare kicks up her heels in glee,
She tries to fight, to command me.
Although I struggle to keep her calm,
We jump together, leaving them in awe.

My horse isn’t perfect, not at all.
She isn’t a show horse, she isn’t tall.
But she has a heart bigger than her head,
And though she fights, she did what I said.

I am not her master, she is no slave,
No push-button pony, not seriousness she gave.
She’s wild and mischievous, she’s fun and I know
She loves me deeply, that she will show.

So let those girls show off their horses of perfection.
I watch the gleam and beauty, but I have a confession.
Those horses are made of glass and stone.
My crazy horse is made of love alone.

So give me a REAL horse, one with heart,
One who makes life fun from the very start
Let them laugh at my pony’s glee.
This special mare, she’s the only one right for me!

We may not be fancy or flashy too.
We may not be perfect, but we’ll show you!
Although she acts up and jokes around to play,
My horse is the best horse, and she’ll win the day!

Author’s Note: To everyone who knows that a REAL horse is one that knows how to have fun. Even if they can be challenging sometimes, they are far more rewarding then a push-button horse. We know that through hard work and love these horses learn to respect and love us, the way we respect and love them! So give me a REAL horse, one with flaws! Perfect is just too boring!
