The Dilemna

Published by GHC • Apr 27th, 2007 • Category: GHC News

Imagine you’re the judge at a horse show, a BIG show with dozens and dozens of smart, talented entrants in several different classes. All entrants (horses and riders) received high marks in their class, some are tied. Now imagine you have to select half a dozen finalists across all classes to compete in one last event for a “best in show” award.

How in the world can you possibly choose just six?

Now you know our dilemna with the monthly Judge for Yourself competition. In April we published a whopping 88 submissions — poetry, fiction, fantasy, non-fiction, mystery and adventure — from girls of all ages. And that doesn’t count blogs.

We do love to write about horses, eh?

As problems go, this is a good one to have because it means we’re growing. Now it’s time to get serious about expanding our system for submitting and rating your creations. Keeping up with ever-changing web technology is like trying to get a horse to stop shedding fur in the Spring. :) Fortunately we work with an awesome team ‘o geeks and have lots ‘o smart, talented members to help with ideas and advice.

We’ll keep you posted as this project moves forward and hope you’ll share your ideas and advice. And if you know anyone with a suitcase ‘o money to help build the best virtual barn in the universe, we can make things happen a lot faster (and maybe keep up with that ever-changing technology).

Now back to the dilemna of choosing Judge for Yourself finalists…
