Three Day Eventing: A Competition for the Best of the Best

To be in the Three Day Event is a real honor. It is a competition which takes a lot of skill. You see, to be in Three Day Eventing, you have to be good at three things — Dressage, Cross Country, and Show Jumping. All of them are very difficult, and it is wonderful for people to be able to do all three of them in just three days! Such a difficult competition deserves to be mentioned, so that is just what I plan to do!

Dressage — An event where you walk, trot, and canter through an exact course. If you don’t do the exact course, you could get points taken away from your score or you could even be disqualified. If you get disqualified from even one of the events, you can’t do any of the others. It takes a lot of skill because you and your horse must memorize the course and go through it with ease. I think that it is amazing how people and horses can do that!
Cross Country — An event that where speed, stamina, and jumping is almost everything. You gallop as fast as you can through a long course. As you race you cannot get out of the boundary lines or you will be disqualified. You also have to keep jumping all the jumps you come to. They are all different sizes and shapes. It must be hard to stay focused with all of those jumps while you are trying to win!
Show Jumping — An event where jumping all of the jumps and looking as fancy as you can is very important when you are in this competition. You show off while jumping and racing between the jumps at a good speed. You have to memorize your jump course. If you don’t, it can be really hard because there are a lot of other jumps in the arena and you have to always remember what jump to go to next. If you don’t you will be disqualified. That is what makes it so hard.
Now that you know about all of them, you know that it is harder than it seems. It is extremely hard to master one of them, and it is very difficult for any people to master all of them. That is why not many people do it. Some people do one or another, but there are few who do them all. But I am sure that one of you will be able to do it when you get older!

Thia is great! I’ve heard of three day events before, I can’t imagine how hard it would be to memorize all those routes!
I know. Thank for the praise. :)
LeadMare, the photos look good. :) Thanks
I’ve definitely learnt something new today! I’ve always known Eventing takes skill, but after this blog I look onto that sport with higher respect. I bow to the horsegirls who can do it someday on GHC!
