Timeless Story

You look at me and I look back.
Your whisper things in my ear.
I listen closely, and understand
All the things that you hold dear.
I shake my mane and make you smile
I rest my chin on your shoulder for a while
With love that we share and a bond so tight
I will defend you with all my might.
So let the thunder crack in the sky
I bellow defiance, watch me fly!
So let the rain beat down on the earth
I will fight it all for you.
So let the trouble come in bundles of ten!
I will trample your worries until they bend!
I will fight as fierce as a tiger clawed!
And everyone will know where I have trod!
To save you from any strife
My best friend and human,
You have my heart, my soul, my life!
Anything you ask I will gladly do
My beloved companion
With all my heart I love you!
So let the trouble come in waves as big as the sun!
I will beat them all until my life is done!
My task is to chase away your fears.
With my last breath, I hold you dear.
A humble horse am I
But my cry will echo in the sky.
One day we’ll meet again.
This I know, so smile my dear friend!

Author’s Note: Horses give their all for us with love and willingness! How can we ever thank them?
I certainly don’t know how we can ever thank horses properly and fully, but this excellent poem is certainly a start! Horses always keep me happy and smiling, no matter how upset I can be. There’s also your poems that can lift my mood :D Reading them is always a pleasure, and this poem reflects the love horses have for us in such beautiful description!
Champion Poem vi… it is a unique thing to share a bond with an equine friend. Even when you leave them in the stall at night you feel a lonliness when you leave. =0) good job Violet

*tear runs down face* I love it…so touching! so true! it makes me cry with pride for my mount, my love,my life, my horse. and the bond no one other than you and your horse can under stand! i love it!

I know a horse who always comes over to me and nuzzles my shoulder. He chooses me over other people, (unless they have Polo’s. Bribing works!) I like to believe that he feels that way… B-D
