It’s that time of year again — riding through crunchy leaves, warm sun and cold breezes, and getting darker earlier. It’s also the time of year for Halloween activities like bobbing for apples, eating sweets (feeling sick), getting dressed up, trick or treat parties, and getting scared. In the UK, it’s also nearly Bonfire Night, which means sparklers, bonfires, more sweets, fireworks, burnt hands, and absolutely petrified horse and other animals.
This blog lists some fun things to do with your horses at during Halloween and Bonfire Night, and some animal safety tips.
FUN STUFF
- See if you can find a Halloween show
- Dress your horses up for Halloween
- Go trick or treating on horseback
- Go for a night ride — spooky
- Have a yard Halloween party
- Gymkhana, Halloween style
SAFETY TIPS
- See if there are any firework parties close and ask them to aim the fireworks away from your horses
- Don’t go to houses with ‘no trick or treaters please’ — they don’t want you to ring on them
- Always be careful with fire
- Make sure your horses are safe on bonfire night
Feel free to add your ideas in the comments. HAVE FUN and BE SAFE!
