To Canter Is To Be Free

To canter is to be free,
To fly,
So don’t be shy,
Girls, kick those horses into a canter,
To canter is to leave your troubles on the ground,
think of nothing else.

Dear Horse,
Let me canter,
Fast, fast,
Canter past,
leave your troubles behind,
nothing else on your mind,
but to canter,
Fast, fast,
Fly past,
Don’t you dare come in last,
Because to canter is to be free,
Nothing else is stopping me!

  1. Cantering is the best! Its the in-between stage right before the move into a gallop. I love that feeling. Sometimes I imagine its me doing the running using my four strong legs to fly across the ground. Good Job!

  2. I know HorseFeathers, cantering is my favorite pace! I was in a horse show once where I had to show off my horses best gate, which was probably the trot, but I cantered anyway, and he broke into a beautiful canter. We placed, which was awesome.

  3. Great poem Ginger!! Cantering is the best, it’s always been my favorite. I love any horse with a super-fast canter, it’s like flying.
