Trust: The Rider’s Key

If you are one of the many participants in English or Western competitions, you probably know what I’m about to say; a good horse and rider make a difference in the contest. We all know what makes a good rider, but what makes a good horse?

You may be thinking agility, speed, a good trainer? These all help, but what about trust? Does your horse know that he can trust you to guide him along the course? Will you go over the jumps not as horse and rider, but as one?

There is more to trust than we often see. Trust has to rest in the rider as well as the horse. YOU have to trust your horse. Trust your horse to clear the jump, to go the extra mile. You will go a lot further in competitions if you and your horse trust each other to do their part.

With trust you will do your best.

  1. Wonderful Blog Cassie! This is by far one of my favorites! You are one of the best bloggers on the team, although I must say, everyone is pretty good! ;)

  2. So true! Awesome blog! :)

  3. That was excellent Cassie! One of the best blogs I’ve heard from you. I always bond with a horse for a short while before I mount. :))

  4. Love the blog Cassie. This is truly your best one yet :D

  5. You did great I give that a 5 stars! And your completely right in a jumping competion I know if I don’t have complete trust in my horse that there is no way we can do good!! That is great advice good job!! :D

  6. Cassie, this is the best blog you’ve published and you’re absolutely right! You can have the best trained horse in the world, but if he doesn’t trust you you can’t turn those barrels or jump that course. Great job! :D

  7. LeadMare, I also just submitted a blog about trust. Will it be published as well?

    Cassie, excellent job!

  8. Thankx everyone! I’ve never competed before, but I watch TONS of Western and English riding, and I can tell that the best riders are the ones that bond with their horse.
    Glad ya’ll enjoyed. :D :D :D

  9. Cassie, This is a great blog, and totally true! I barrel race on occasion, and you do need to trust the horse as much as the horse needs to trust you! :)

  10. Well, in my case, I haven’t actually watched the TONS that Cassie had, but from the few I have watched, I can tell who has an easy time through the competition and who doesn’t. It’s really unfair how riders are so rough with their horses and gets angry when they make mistakes.

  11. Cassie, I don’t know any way you could’ve made that blog better! This is like a proffesional article. If I could give you friendly advice, just to make the best better, you could’ve made it longer and went into subtitles and description of what would’ve happened if the horse & rider didn’t trust each other, and stuff like that. Otherwise, that is probably the best blog I’ve read today. You’ve made my day and that stuff you wrote helps me, because later today at 12:30 I have to go to my horse lesson. :)

  12. I love you blog Cassie!!! It’s something that every rider should live by. It’s really cool!! Great Job!! :))

  13. Thankx magicalhorse97! The best writers know when to take advice and they learn from others.Glad to here critisism.
