Unbreakable Spirit

He skims the ground with power so raw,
More strength then all the oceans.
A starlight glimmer,
A story untold,
He flies effortlessly through all motions.
A bird is landing,
Upon the sill,
My eyes flutter open.
My starlight horse,
My unbreakable spirit,
Is shattered by all emotions.
He is not free,
He is not here,
He is not mine today.
But I still dream of my dear horse,
For my dream will live,
Someday.
I wrote this poem in the hope that anybody who reads it will be inspired to continue dreaming about that special horse that will someday be of blood and flesh, and be theirs

Brilliant! I love it, DinaLUV!I will continue to keep dreaming….even though I still have my dream horse (second only to my deceased horse, Halo) Titian. Hmmm…maybe I’ll write a story about that. About a girl who lives in the city, maybe, and can’t afford to own a horse, but dreams about and draws and paints her horse. And then the girl will finally get her horse…her dream horse. :-)
Write On,

I love it!!!!
Awesome poem! Yeah, I’m like Jonannah, still dreaming, but NOT giving up!
Beautiful poem, very, very beautiful. Dreaming is a huge part of horses, and girls, you should never stop doing it because that’s what keeps you hoping. I’m definitely going to keep my dreams alive, and strive for that one, special horse. Brilliant writing, DianaLUV, I was truly inspired by your words.
Great poem!!!
OMG! AN ORANGE NAME REPLIED!!! Sorry Mad, I’m goin a bit OTT about you replying! hee hee
I have bad news. It took me forever to get the neve to say this, but i went for a ride after I commented on everything and logged off of GHC yesderday. I took Titian, and we went to this river. Well, you have to pass through a forest to get to the river. And (I’m going to pause in my typing to cry for a moment) coyotes attacked us. I know, it’s VERY unlikely that this would happen to anyone, but it happened to me. There were at least five of them, I didn’t count, and they snapped at Titian and lahsed out at him. I took him back to my barn and went to find my mom. I didn’t know the vet’s number, and I couldn’t help Titian. So, he’s passed away from us. I can’t write any more, just thought everyone would want to know. You guys are the only people that I can tell without being ashamed of crying.

Wild’n'Free: I’m finding it very hard to say something, because it’s impossible to feel what you are feeling now, and it’s something that words cannot completely rid. Titian, even though I barely know him, sounds like an absolutely incredible horse, and I’m sure he is. But think of it this way, if it wasn’t for you, Titian would’ve naturally lived in the wilderness, amongst the forests where coyotes live. He would’ve needed to fight for his life every day. You have kept him safe. Don’t ever be ashamed of crying over this, nobody should expect anything different. When you cry, people can truly glimpse the bond between a horse and girl. It shows your dedication and love. I give my best regards to you and your family. You’re a VERY strong person. I know everything will smooth out in the end. I’m sure that Titian would be watching over you in his little horsey heaven. Remember, he’s still there – the bond between a girl and horse never dies. I’ll be sending virtual hugs.
DianaLUV: Thank you, but in the end it’s still just an orange name. I surely couldn’t have written a poem as great as yours when I was 12! How can anyone not reply to something so amazing? :)
Wild’n'free! I’m so sorry! That is so sad! So horrible! Don’t be ashamed of crying! I definitely would cry . How . . . I . . . just don;t know what to say I’m not much of a comfort. I’m sorry :-( Madelaina is absouletly right! The bond between horse and girl will never die. Your horse is still with you. I’ll be sending some virtual hugs too! *hug* :’-(
Thanks, Madelaina. Titian has sired foals, and I hope that one day one of them could live up to his wonderful image. But for now, I’ve been staying away from the barn. Yes, I know I should go over there and take care of the other horses, but I can’t. It’s just too many bad memories. Anyways, thanks so much for the sympathy.

Wild’n'Free- I am so sorry to hear about your beloved horse. However you are right about coyotes not usualy attacking people or large animals. Are you sure they were not a pack of wild dogs? Coyotes tend to be loners. Do you remember any details from the event? Where the coyotes foaming at the mouth or acting strangely in any way? When i was younger i used to live in the deeper country my Golden retriever used to run loose with local stray dogs. One time they brought down one of the neighbour’s sheep. If these “coyotees” are really attacking people you need to contact the animal control if you havnt already. If they are infected with a disease like Rabis then it could possibly kill a person if they succeeded in bighting someone. Again, I am very sorry to hear about Titain but you need to contact someone about this occurence. Because it is very unusal for coyotes to hunt in packs and a pack of stray dogs could mean trouble for farmer’s livestock. Never feel ashamed to cry like Made said many animal friends of my past have passed on. Titan will always be “wild ‘n’ Free”.
best

Oh, Wild’n'Free, that’s awful! I couldn’t imagine anything like that happening to me. Just know I’m praying for you, cuz I know how much it hurts when an animal you bond with dies. I’ve never had a horse, but my dog died about 5 or 6 years ago and I miss him to this day. I bet the pain is all the more magnified with a horse. :( I’m praying for you!
Don’t be ashamed of crying Wild’n'free… Titian was protecting you from those coyotes as he valued the bond between you and him so much. He is now in heaven, watching down on you and galloping through endless fields with his other deceased friends. He now has the most luxurious food, whatever he needs whenever he wants, beautiful resting places, no illness or sadness, just everlasting piece.
I fished out a poem I wrote about horse heaven out of my schoolbag. I was looking for somebody to dedicated it to. I hope it is published. I think I’ll post it now.
I hope it helps…
Wild’n'free- from what i researched i was wrong about a couple statistics i concured. Coyotes sometimes do hunt in packs and bring down large animals such as deer but they usualy hunt in pairs. Attacks on humans is uncommon but it happens. here is an article that i read at wikipedia.org. Again I am sorry for your lost… we are all here for you.
“Coyote attacks on humans are uncommon and rarely cause serious injuries, due to the relatively small size of the coyote. However, coyote attacks on humans have increased since 1998 in the state of California. Data from USDA Wildlife Services, the California Department of Fish & Game, and other sources show that while 41 attacks occurred during the period of 1988-1997, 48 attacks were verified from 1998 through 2003. The majority of these incidents occurred in Southern California near the suburban-wildland interface.[40]
Due to an absence of harassment by residents, urban coyotes lose their natural fear of humans, which is further worsened by people intentionally feeding coyotes. In such situations, some coyotes have begun to act aggressively toward humans, chasing joggers and bicyclists, confronting people walking their dogs, and stalking small children.[40] Like wolves, non-rabid coyotes usually target small children, mostly under the age of 10, though some adults have been bitten. Some attacks are serious enough to warrant 200 stitches.[41]
There is currently only one recorded fatal attack on a human. In 1981 in Glendale, California, a coyote attacked toddler Kelly Keen, who was rescued by her father, but died in surgery due to blood loss and a broken neck.[40][42]“
Wild’n'Free, I am so sorry to hear about what happened. I am sure that the filling is indescribable. I have never lost a horse the way you have, but I am sure it is hard. It is hard to give advice, when I cant even imagine something like that. I’m so sorry.
As for DianaLUV♥, your writing is champion! If you are like me, then I am sure you are so thrilled on the fact that you got published on GHC. I loved the poem, and your writing. Wonderful job!
Wild’n'Free: That’s terrible what happened to Titan. BTW: My family had a Siberian Husky once that ran away and never came back. The last time we took her on a walk, I unleashed her after we came back from the walk so that she could have a run by herself. Well after that, we looked and called and everything for her but she just was seemingly “swallowed up by the forest”! I still sorta blame myself for me being the one to let her go, but anyway, sorry about your loss.

Thanks everyone. It makes me feel a bit better knowing that there are some girls out there that will always support me. :-) Thanks again.
