What I Didn’t Do During the Mini Break
Published by LeadMare • Sep 22nd, 2008 • Category: LeadMare TalesMy Mini Break did not include gadgets. There were no bars on my cell phone. The rustic oceanside cottage didn’t have wireless Internet, a telephone, TV, or microwave. Just the basics like a fireplace, a comfy sofa for reading/napping, a deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and plenty of skylights for views of the towering Redwoods.
I didn’t ride or come into contact with horses, but drove past many horse farms and imagined what it would be like to live on the coast with space for plenty of animals. As we drove past one farm, we saw a man and a young girl standing beside the highway with their horses, waiting to cross. It was one of those rare days with no fog and very little wind, perfect for a ride on the beach.
I did enjoy quiet time with loved ones, walks/runs on the beach, a good book, writing in my journal, the latest issue of Horse Illustrated, and plenty of good food. Here are a couple of photos.

There’s something about sand hitting my dog’s feet that triggers a need for speed. If he was a horse, he’d definitely be a thoroughbred. I love to watch him run.

Here we are, tuckered out from playing on the beach. I’m definitely feeling like a Lucky Girl wearing my new favorite t-shirt.
I hope whatever you didn’t do over the weekend left YOU feeling like a Lucky Girl.

I see Hooteeny definitely enjoyed his mini break, and that T-shirt looks wonderful on you! Ever considered being a model for horse girls?
I often feel the need for some speed when I hit the beach too. Nothing like running around on something so soft as sand. I hope you had a great time at wherever you went!
Madelaina, you’re so sweet, but no — I’ll stick with being a model horse girl. :) I owe you a nod of gratitude for my new t-shirt. After all, it was your blog Our Horseshoe Luck that originally inspired me to create the Lucky Girl design. So thank you!
I love your dog!!!:)
And Madelaina ’s right you do look good in that shirt!!!!
Thank you Salina. I love my dog too!
Hooteeny looks so happy!
Cute pictures, LeadMare! I know I haven’t been visiting the club as often as I have, but there’s a reason. Right now, I am in New York, and haven’t had the Internet in a long time.
I am already thinking of a blog to submit…. gotta go!

Hooteeny is so cute, I wish I had a dog.
PS- I haven’t been to a beach so I haven’t gotten that burst of speed you were talking about.
PSS- You look good in that shirt, I saw a shirt that says Horse Gal I think would be perfect for you.
I hope you had a good break LeadMare! Hooteeny reminds me of my puppy Jazz..she got real excited on the beach too..maybe they have been talking or something..lol.
Everyone is right, that shirt does look great on you. I am hoping to buy some of my winter clothes from GHC(show off how proud I am of being a Junior Blogger!)
Whew. Back from NY. What a trip… Anyways, I am glad to be back in my own house, and back in the club.

wow,a ride on the beach.i would love that
Your dog is sooo cute! I love going to the beach, but your right there are no horses!: ( Its utterly disturbing to me when someone could be riding their 4-legged companion on the beach, but don’t. I would love to that one day! Oh, LeadMare what breed of horse is your fav?
Barrelzzz, I’d also love to ride on the beach one day. As for my fave breed of horse, I couldn’t possibly pick one — I haven’t met a breed (or mixed breed) I didn’t love for different reasons.
