Why I am Thankful for the Equine: My Whole New Journey

thank youThroughout the years I’ve loved the equine family. I gawked at every sight of a horse, sighed at every memory and gasped at every whinny. There isn’t a word to describe what horses have done for me or how I feel about them. But one thing’s definitely sure — horses are never a craze, and these are the reasons (the short version, that is).

Horses have opened me up into a fun and friskier person. I adore all the times of laughter and fun with horses, and I wouldn’t have forgiven myself if I hadn’t first mounted one of the ponies at the school fete years ago. Though my craze is a late one, my affection is just as strong, and I would want to someday repay the horses for helping me find the me within; the one who is joyful, optimistic, funny and cheering, the one who has crawled out of its shell, the one who has absorbed the boldness and bliss of riding.

Since I’ve loved horses, I’ve started reading about them — stories, facts, breeds, competition, training, tack etc. And now, I have found a great friend who is just as horse crazy as I am to share tips and stories with. If it weren’t for horses, I would have never met her and realized what a fantastic mate is inside of her.

Horses gave and still give me the hopes I’ve lost, the cure for my sorrow, and they help me overcome my greatest fears. If horses are brave enough to leap over tall fences, ride for hours without end or learn complicated tricks in dressage, then I can triumph over my daily problems with the same determination and strength.

And of course, if it weren’t for horses I wouldn’t be here on Girls Horse Club sharing my stories, poems and blogs with other horse girls around the world. I can tell I’ve definitely learned from the many blogs of the Girls Horse Club herd and I will never forget the wise words expressed by the authors. It’s a fantastic place for me to learn more about horses and for me to distribute my love for them. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Horses are the beauties of the plains, the wishes of tomorrow and the spirits of horse girls like me. Never in a thousand years would kisses or thanks be enough for the miracle fallen upon us.

  1. OMG!!! i love this blog! i think its the bestest!! lol thats not a word but oh well!

  2. You know what Cassie- you are right. Some angry and dumb people who believe in horse slaughter don’t realize these important things. Horses are basically like us. The eat and drink and move around (like us), the have a nose and different colored hair and eyes and ears (like us). If they are similar to us, why go out and torture them. You are 100% right. I can’t explain in words why horses make us change, make us a better person than we could’ve been 1 day ago, or 1 year ago. I am okay with people who don’t like horse. As long as they don’t hurt them. Ignore them. Say mean things about them. That is their choice and it is none of my buisness. People need to stand up, and realize things. They hear it, yes, but why don’t they do what they here? To me, horses bring out good things in me: My dreams, hopes, ambition, and the future that I CAN plan. Yes some may be wild. They may be mean. But I say, “There is never such thing as a mean horse. It is just a hurt soul inside.” I am an opinionated 10-year-old that make her own decisions. I take responsibility of my own actions. I stand up for what I believe in. You really have to work hard to make horses that angry. But you really have to work hard to get a horse’s trust, which really takes a while to earn and that is the good thing about it. You get to learn and get a step ahead every way you get closer to that trust. Thank you Cassie. A wonderful blog you have written that makes me stop being nervous and shout out to the world for what I believe in. :)

  3. Thanks for the comment Syd! I know “bestest” isn’t word either, but I can say it should be because many of the blogs at Girls Horse Club deserves to be described using that word!

magicalhorse97:that was an excellent speech! You can’t imagine how many times I said in my head “Go magicalhorse97!” when I was reading it. Sometimes it just keeps me thinking, what don’t people like about horses? I can’t see the bad in riding or loving horses at all.

Once again, thank you for your feedbacks! :D

  4. I agree with Syd! This is soo brilliant! :D

  5. What a great comment, magicalhorse97 (Lauren)! Just one thing, Madelaina made the blog, Cassie made another one.

Anyway, this blog is so wonderful! I loved reading it!

  6. The speech I had the long comment, I meant to put Madelina instead of Cassie. Sorry!

  7. I can’t believe that speech came out of MY mouth! I’m so proud of myself even though i can’t use fansy words or unknown saying and phrases. Thanks for your support! If you want yall can just start calling me Lauren or Filly Lauren. I know fillies are girl horses the age of 5 and under, but i’m still a kid so you all can call me that! Thanks again! ;)

  8. Wonderful Job Madelaina! I always enjoy your blogs! You were one of the first to reach out to me and tell me you like my stories, which made me feel wonderful inside. I was surprised you like my writing, after all, you are one of the best writers I have ever “met”! You always have so much insight and the way you put them on “paper” aka the internet is beautiful! Good Job, and thank you for being a wonderful person/writer!

  9. Oh yeah: I forgot, Lauren: Wonderful Speech! You should try writing a blog! I’m sure you’d be super at it!

  10. It is me, magicalhorse97. Just call me Lauren now. I would really LOVE to write a blog. I just need everybodys’ help. I don’t know where to click so I CAN write a blog. What do I do to write one? Please answer back! :D

  11. Lauren: Just got to the loft book club and click on submit your storie then fill in the boxes as if you were writing a story, but write the blog instead. Then in the “comments” about your story, just tell them that it is a blog! Hope this helps! Maybe just follow this link:
    http://www.girlshorseclub.com/book_club/submitStory.php

  12. Awww Horsecrazzz, that’s so sweet! I don’t know what to say! I’m glad I’ve been of help. It’s been great reading your stories and blogs as well, they are the most meaningful and sweet collection I’ve ever seen! Keep it up and happy writing- I’m always there to read them! :D

Lauren: don’t worry, everyone makes mistakes. To submit a blog or story for that matter, you can go to the Loft, and click “Submit my Story!” on the left hand side column. There would then be a submission form where your name, e-mail address, age, story genre, story title and the story itself is to be written. At the bottom there would be a comments area where you need to tell Girls Horse Club it is a blog. The rest is just let your imagination run wild, piece it together and send it in! Hope this helps! :D

  13. Thanks you guys! I just finished a horse lesson earlier and I am so tired! We had a little time at the end before my mom got back and I got on bareback. (At a walk of course) It was so fun! Thanks for letting me know how to do a blog. One more question: In most blogs, they have pictures and stuff of horses that have a bubble with what they are thinking of. Where do I get the pictures to get in my blog? Write back soon! I have to go to school tomorrow and I need to know soon so I can make one today. Thanks and write back! :)

  14. Lauren: Girls Horse CLub takes care of the pictures. You don’t have to do it yourself! Julia simply did it for fun. You can if you want to, but it’s not required.
Madelaina: Thanks for your compiliments on my stories! Yours are just as good! You really are an amazing part of this website! Great bblog, as usual!

  15. I added a blog last night called, well, I forgot. I will try to find out and it proably won’t be published yet so I’ll let you know soon. Let me tell you for all who have commented for Madelaina’s blog: I love to talk and chat with each and every one of you!
Sorry, I just had to go right out and say it, but you guys are awesome! (Well girls, I guess.) See ya! :-h

  16. Lauren: YAY! I was looking at the December Publishing calendar and your blog, Practice Makes Perfect will be published in December! YAY!!!! Great Job and I can’t wait to read it! And I’m sure that it was Madelaina’s blog that inspired you to write one! ;)

  17. I saw your blog too and I can’t wait to read it! And which of my blogs were you talking about Horsecrazzz?

  18. Great story. Thanks for contributing to the Horse Lovers Blog Carnival. :)

  19. Yes! It was an inspiration from Madelaina: Thanks by the way. If Madelaina hadn’t written THIS blog, I wouldn’t of said that long long speech of what I believe in. And if I hadn’t said that speech, I would’ve never thought of writing a blog. Thanks you guys! Oh, and yes, my blog is called Practice Makes Perfect. Let me know when you find out EXACTLY when it has been published, tell me what you think on this page or the page of my blog, and send me a link of where I can read it myself. Oh, and it won’t be published until Decemeber so that will give us something to look forward to. YAY! Bye! :)) :D :) ;)

  20. Lauren: On the calendar it says the 6th of December, and when it is published, just come here to the blog and you can read it! Your welcome by the way. Thank you Mona too for your feedback. :D
