PICTURE THIS. You’re a passionate young journalist who’s been given her first BIG assignment. Your editor is sending you to a press conference at Girls Horse Club featuring none other than Terri Farley, an avid horse activist and author of the Phantom Stallion and Wild Horse Island book series. Your assignment: Write a feature story that touches on Ms. Farley’s experience as a writer/journalist, but is primarily focused on what inspires and informs her work.
Finally — a dream assignment and your first shot at a byline!
Your editor tells you to start by doing background research and preparing for the press conference by coming up with a list of questions that can only be answered by Terri herself. There’s a ton of info on the Internet — start Googling! You’re also instructed to avoid contacting Terri before or after the press conference. She’s a busy lady and chances are she won’t respond before your deadline.
On the actual day of the virtual press conference, you’ll get more context and details, including your deadline. We won’t take questions about the activity at that time (only questions for Terri) so now is your time to ask.

Jeanna, good question. Terri will be here July 5-11 then article submissions will be taken July 23-30 and published in August. Hope you can find time around your vacation to participate, but if not have FUN!

That sounds cool! She’s my favorite author! I loved her series and was constantly going to the library to get the next book in her series. Phantom is a great stallion! And also, thanks so much for publishing and editing my story, Midnight stallion. I never thought it would appear online. I will deffinatly do this assinment and I’m going to send in some of my other stories! Not only to here, but to magazines too!
