As Angel approached, she noticed a small paddock and in it were Lone Star and Kuzuma! A man was there too. Angel recognized him at once -- the man from her nightmares! There was no movement from the house, so Angel walked Gypsy around the front of the house where the man wouldn't see her.

When she was at the side of the house, Angel quietly commanded Gypsy to lie down. Gypsy went down and lay quietly in the tall grass. Angel crouched down herself and inched forward on her belly toward the paddock.

When she was close enough to hear the man, she heard, "You dumb animals, you gonna go for meat at the auction this weekend, I'll be sure of that!" Angel heard Lone Star squeal angrily. She lifted her head just enough to see Lone Star charge at the man and bite him on the wrist.

The man let out a roar of pain and anger, then began to hit Lone Star around his face. Angel saw more than she could bear and quietly crept back to Gypsy. She rode Gypsy to the end of the field, deciding to wait until night fell before she rescued Lone Star.

She didn't know that it would be Lone Star who would rescue her.
