Prelude to Change
Published by LeadMare • Apr 20th, 2008 • Category: GHC News
Are you having a fun Spring break and enjoying some time outside in the *real* world? For those of you in the midst of winter, are you finding time and space to let your imagination soar above the clouds? For me, quiet time opens up space in my noggin to nurture ideas that have been germinating and let new ideas take root. Periodic breaks bring perspective and time for kickin’ up my hooves to read a good book (I’m almost finished reading Airs & Graces, part 2 of the Horsemistress Saga).
What about you?
I also like breaking up the routine and embracing change. So in the spirit of Spring and the season’s new life, the time has come for something fresh and BIG. Change is good. Our virtual barn is old (almost seven — in Internet years that’s REALLY old) and it’s time for some remodeling, starting with the blog!
In the coming weeks I’ll share details and progress toward developing a new area for the blog. The primary objective is to create a format that better showcases our AMAZING writers. In the process of remodeling, I’ll definitely need your help and will use this trusty old blog to chronicle the changes and solicit your feedback.
Now put on your hard hats (I suppose an equestrian helmet would work just as well) and roll up your sleeves for some fun (and work) to enhance our virtual barn.

Sounds like you’ve had fun Leadmare!
Over the small’break’ I didn’t get to do much-I’ve been up to my eyes in schoolwork and writing.
I did go out once or twice to spend some ‘horsey time’, and even bought a lovely gold horse shoe decorated with green beads with a charm on it that simply says “Dream big”. It was the last one being sold at a benefit for a horse rescue, and it seemed very lucky(no pun intended!) since green is my favorite color and I am a bit of a dreamer.
The only problem is, and this is kind of funny, when I tacked the horse shoe up over my door…it fell on my head. Well, that’s a bit of ‘good luck’ there for you!
I also wrote five more chapters on a book I am finishing up, and am starting to volunteer at a horse rescue, the same one I got the horse shoe from. Annnnddd, signed up for horseback riding camp…annnnnd (loving lenghtened words here) started a school project with two horse horse crazies, and guess what it’s on? Western riding of course, because that’s just how we roll.
Wow I talk a lot.
Well, anyways, I hope everyone had a nice break! ;)
Wow Halee, you’re a busy girl! Love your story about the ‘lucky’ horseshoe. ;)
Sounds like you’re doing a great job juggling school and all your other interests. I’m very horse deprived right now, but am going on a trail ride next weekend to start getting ready for a ride we hope to take this summer at the Wild Horse Sanctuary.
The trail ride sounds wonderful, Leadmare! The first trail ride of the year is always the best one for some reason. It sounds like a lot of fun, a great way to get out of being horse starved. Betcha just can’t wait to hop in the saddle! You should submit your trail ride as a ‘Leadmare Tale’.
Lol! LeadMare: I just finished reading Airs and Graces for the second time! I can’t wait to see all the wonderful changes you will make!
Halee: That horse shoe seems to have turned on you….lol!
Hope you all had a wonderful break from the virtual world!
When will the blog be open
Horsecrazzz: Yes, it seems it has..just a little bit. It’s stayed in place since then though, but it seems to be giving me the evil eye…without eyes of course. Not really possible…but whateve. ;)
wazup ? horsecrazz when are you going to take horse lessons? :-S
I take horse lessons…I go to a place called knicker knob and I go there alot…
Do you take horse lessons…???????
Hay (;) ) everyone! I just got back from a trip up North, and I’m glad to be hanging around the blog and Girls Horse Club in general again. This break must have been one of my busiest! I had so much fun at a horse camp I’ve been anticipating for weeks. Not to forget the ideas I have stored for blogs and stories and putting them in words.
LeadMare, I hope you have the best of your time horse riding! It’s always a pleasure to spend time with horses and not worry about keeping the site rolling at its usual speed. However, the new changes to the blog sound very interesting and exciting!
Halee: Looks like you would no doubt have lots of fun!Good luck with your gold horse shoe. I would think it won’t need some obedience class with the blacksmith. :D But I love it that your “lucky” horseshoe has some personality. P.S. As you can probably see I talk a lot as well!

Aren’t we just the chatterboxes?
Your break sounds like it was amazing! At least you have some inspiration to show for it, I just hve a lump on my head from the hroseshoe.
But! Now it can’t hurt me anymore, it’s on a chain around my neck now…except…when I was lying down and got up…It kinda choked me… Evil hroseshoe?
I think that the horseshoe has totally gone to the dark side! My advice: show it a horses foot, aka where it could be. Maybe then it will be more grateful to you…
I have a couple blog ideas ready to be written!
Hey! It’s great to hear from everybody again! I can’t wait for the next great changes! Hope everyone had a really awesome spring break! I know I did!
Halee, definitely an evil horse shoe. You can write about it! That can be your inspiration. :D I usually never talk in real life, so I guess I spill all that is necessary here.
Hey everyone! Glad to hear from all of you!
Poor you Halee! Horsecrazzz, that is EXCELLENT idea! what an unappreciative horseshoe! it COULD be going through MUD right now, but instead it’s all pretty and decorated and on wonderful Halee’s neck! i WOULD say put it on a horse, but then it would probably hurt it, with the beads and all. as you can see i talk alot too! as well as riding horses, i also play soccer, you see, and ever season, we give awards. last season we decided to give funny awards as well, and my friend and i got the chatterbox awards! wow, i just made the little scrolly thingie appear! WOW!
another WOW!! GHC is SEVEN YEARS OLD!! WOW AGAIN!!!
Hehe, yeah. I think I’ll show the evil horseshoe where it’s sisters and brothers are….
Hey, I’ve got good news too…Here in Nevada, it’s trail riding season for me and my barn buddies.
First ride is in six days! Woot!
That sounds awesome horsecrazzz, well chatterboxes are good. Yikes, believe it or not I used to be known for being shy and quiet…that was obviously before I really started riding seriously though. ;)
Hi guys! sorry I’ve been gone so long! my computer crashed, and then I had so much homework and barn chores.. and oh, I am riding again! :D :D
is the blog opened and were did you get the picts. there beautiful
